I bring hands on experience organizing, communicating, and problem solving directly with residents across the district. My background includes grassroots outreach, issue advocacy, budget awareness, and navigating public systems that impact healthcare, housing, education, and economic security. I am skilled at translating community needs into clear policy priorities, building coalitions across differences, and holding institutions accountable through transparency and data. Most importantly, I am accessible, responsive, and committed to showing up consistently to listen, learn, and deliver results for the people I represent.
While universal healthcare remains a core goal, my most immediate first-year priority would be advancing strong labor protections, including passage of the PRO Act or similar reforms. Strengthening workers’ right to organize raises wages, improves benefits, and increases job stability without requiring massive new spending. In my first year, I would focus on building bipartisan pressure, supporting enforcement, and aligning labor reform with affordability goals so working families can see real improvements quickly while we continue pushing for broader healthcare reform.
I will pursue economic policies that reduce costs and increase long-term stability for working families, starting with universal healthcare. By guaranteeing healthcare as a public good, we can lower overall costs, eliminate excessive out-of-pocket expenses, and effectively put money back into people’s pockets. I will also strengthen labor protections so wages rise with productivity, enforce antitrust laws to break up monopolies that inflate prices, and support fair tax policies that ensure corporations and the ultra-wealthy pay their share. These policies work together to create durable economic security for long term stability instead of focusing on short term gain.
I will reduce polarization by centering my work on shared material outcomes rather than party labels. That means showing up consistently in the district, engaging directly with constituents who disagree with me, and grounding policy discussions in data, lived experience, and measurable results. In Congress, I will work across caucuses on policies that improve affordability, public health, and worker stability, while maintaining clear principles and transparency. Effectiveness comes from trust, accountability, willingness to govern, & desire to see tangible results. Not from performative conflict.
Yes. I will prioritize environmental policies that protect public health, lower energy costs, and create resilient local economies. That includes investing in clean energy and energy efficiency, strengthening environmental protections for air and water, and holding polluters accountable for harm to communities. I support climate-resilient infrastructure, disaster preparedness, and workforce pathways that create good local jobs while reducing emissions. Environmental policy should improve quality of life, safeguard future generations, and deliver measurable benefits now.
I am running to be a representative who is present, accessible, and accountable to the people of this district. Government works best when elected officials listen first, communicate honestly, and stay connected to the communities they serve beyond election cycles. I am committed to regular town halls, transparent communication, and using this office to amplify constituent voices, especially those who are too often ignored. Whether we agree on every issue or not, my responsibility is to serve the public interest and work toward solutions that improve everyday life for everyone in our district and beyond. Thankyou for taking the time to learn about me and can't wait to become your future representative of the United States, welcoming a new generation of leadership and standards for office!

Former Newspaper Publisher
I spent 40 years at the Wilkes Journal Patriot as either a reporter or a publisher. For the last 20 years, I have watched Virginia Foxx harm my community by tearing down public education and workplace protections as Chair of the Committee on Education and the Workforce. Foxx’s voting record speaks for itself: she continues to vote against the interests of the district she is supposed to represent. I can’t sit back and watch this happen any longer. My intimate knowledge of this district and its struggles positions me to represent my community in a completely different way.
I recognize that families are facing tough times. Prices are increasing and the cost-of-living is steadily rising. We need to acknowledge that families are struggling and we need increased wages to a livable standard. My top priority is to represent working class people. Costs are rising, wages aren’t keeping up with inflation, and small businesses can’t compete with corporations. Meanwhile, Congress just continues the bidding of mega corporations and the richest among us. I’m running to tell Congress it’s not about them, it’s about you.
I will do everything in my power to combat rising prices and the high cost-of-living. The federal minimum wage is still $7.25. This is unacceptable. We need to push for an increase to a livable standard. Additionally, I will be supporting bills like the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which has helped North Carolina receive investment funds across the counties in the 5th district. The creation of quality, livable wage jobs will be a priority.
I believe that decreasing political polarization starts with holding everyone accountable on each side and being willing to extend your hand across the aisle to get work done. We’ve seen how refusal to compromise has increased political polarization and decreased our federal governments effectiveness, so we have to put aside the party politics and get work done for the people at home.
Our environment should be at the top of our mind when crafting effective legislation. Every person has a right to clean air and water and it’s up to Congress to make sure that’s obtainable. It starts with holding big corporations accountable and scaling back on data centers causing environmental harm. Climate change is real and a growing concern that needs to be addressed before it’s too late.
Over the past few years, I’ve built strong relationships across the district. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to flip this seat. I make sure to make my way around each corner of the district because the people deserve someone who goes out of their way to show up for them.
