My experience being Mom, business owner, and a student has been instrumental in helping people. I am always learning and observing to find solutions that can work for all. I am a native North Carolinian and a NCSU graduate class 2019 my love of this state goes deep. I bring endurance to face the challenges concerning healthcare, energy costs, and education. North Carolina has the resources to help everyone to thrive now is the time to make sure that happens. I can help with my history of making budgets and encouraging actions to completion. I was honored to be a part of the Mooresville Citizens Academy and learning how town services operate and govern. I also volunteer at the Iredell County Agricultural Extension Office.
The cost of living is affecting everyone in every income bracket. People are really suffering with the horrific costs of healthcare and daily basics. The kitchen table issues food insecurity and energy costs are paramount problem for North Carolinians. The cost of living is affecting home ownership. The increases of property taxes and insurance is creating insecurity along with increase unaffordable housing.
I believe public education is the cornerstone of a great state. Public education history is to give everyone a chance to meet their potential and to exceed that potential. I am a product of Public education and a State public university so are my children. I know from past experiences public education needs more support and funds. Especially in our rural areas in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties. These educational investments help to create wealth and progress in N.C.
A good tax policy is one where every entity pays their fair share. I think taxes should not have winners and losers by providing special interests tax breaks but rather treat similar industries and taxpayers similarly. I also believe it is vital to have public consultations and publishing revenue reports to foster public trust.
Improving safety can be promoted by providing shelter and mental health services. Data has shown crime goes down if people have the resources to recover from addiction, homelessness, and unemployment. Getting people off the streets and working keeps us safer.
