The North Carolina State Senate is the upper body of the North Carolina Legislature and consists of 50 members who serve a term of two years. Each member represents an average of 190,710 residents, as of the 2010 Census. The Senate elects officers from their membership including the President Pro Tempore. The North Carolina General Assembly, of which the Senate is a part, is to convene a new regular session every two years. The NC legislature makes decisions on the budget: taxes, tax credits, economic development, education funding, Pre-K, the courts, Medicaid, etc. It also passes laws that set environmental standards such as water and air quality, tax rates, tax credits, criminal justice. Legislators in both chambers serve two-year terms without term limits. Sessions begin at noon on the third Wednesday after the second Monday in January.
I bring real-world experience and real results. I know what it means to raise a family, meet a payroll, and plan for the future, and I will always fight to protect that future for North Carolina families.
In the legislature, I helped pass balanced budgets that increase wages for working families and state employees while lowering taxes and keeping our state fiscally strong.I brought real tangible results to the district from Raleigh.
I built multiple successful businesses from the ground up, so I understand how policy decisions impact jobs, growth, and household budgets. I am focused on results, not rhetoric. I believe in less government, more opportunity, and making sure families can thrive today and for generations to come.
Affordability is the number-one issue in Cabarrus County. We’re growing fast, but families are getting squeezed. Every decision should pass the kitchen-table test: lower taxes, less red tape, and policies that grow paychecks. And as we grow, we must keep up with roads, schools, and infrastructure—so families aren’t paying more for a government that’s falling behind.
I believe fiscal responsibility must be balanced, transparent, and accountable. Spending without discipline and long-term planning is not sustainable. As a public school graduate and parent of three public school graduates, I strongly support public education while recognizing that families and educators should work together to choose the best educational path for each child. In the General Assembly, I will advocate for funding NC Pre-K based on projected growth, not just past enrollment, so fast-growing communities are prepared to meet student needs as they arise. Support reinstating master’s pay because advanced training and classroom experience improve student outcomes and should be recognized.
In the General Assembly, I did not just serve, I led. As Freshman Majority Leader, I helped pass balanced budgets, championed historic Anti-Human Trafficking legislation, and co-chaired the House Small Business and Economic Development Manufacturing Caucus. I focused on policies that grow jobs, strengthen manufacturing and public safety, and recognize the real cost of living facing North Carolina families by prioritizing fiscal discipline and responsible tax relief so residents can keep more of what they earn.
My legislative record speaks for itself - we must be tough on crime because safe communities do not happen by accident. Violent offenders must be held accountable, repeat offenders cannot keep cycling through the system, and law enforcement must have the tools and support to protect the public, especially on public transit.
At the same time, we are failing people with serious mental illness by waiting until tragedy strikes. I have repeatedly and will continue to support expanding access to mental health treatment and crisis intervention while ensuring individuals who pose a danger are not released back on the streets.
This is not an either-or choice. North Carolinians deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods and on public transit.
I believe the most effective advocacy starts with being accessible and responsive to the people I represent. I make it a priority to listen to constituents, local officials, small businesses, and community organizations, and to help them navigate state government when issues arise.
In Raleigh, I follow through by turning those concerns into action, whether that means resolving agency issues, securing budget priorities, or advancing legislation that addresses local needs. My legislative experience and relationships allow me to move issues forward and deliver results. Advocacy is not just about casting votes. It is about showing up, responding, and making sure this district’s voice is heard every day.

Generations of my family are from this district. We have farmed the land, created jobs and raised our families here. I have served in the community as a member of the Cabarrus County Commission for several years. I have taken that knowledge of the district to Raleigh, working with local officials to determine the needs of District 34. My experience as an elected official in local government has prepared me to represent Cabarrus on a state level.
I will continue my work in the General Assembly to make North Carolina safer, protect the interests of taxpayers and make government more efficient and transparent. I voted for Iryna’s Law to prevent serial violent offenders from roaming our streets and for legislation to keep unelected bureaucrats from creating unnecessary regulations. I supported legislation to make the DMV more efficient and secured an additional DMV for Cabarrus.
Education is critically important for the future of North Carolina and that’s why I support a variety of school options. With public education we need to ensure we have a classroom-focused approach to education instead of funding excessive administrative costs. I believe teachers should have a higher starting pay and more classroom support.
Tax dollars should directly benefit citizens, not fuel endless government programs. We must identify waste, fraud and abuse to ensure taxpayer dollars are being utilized with integrity and responsibility. I support elimination of the income tax.
I voted for Iryna’s Law which prevents serial violent offenders from roaming our streets. I also voted for “Back the Blue Pay Act,” which will encourage retention and recruitment of law enforcement officers by providing raises.
