I am finishing my first term on City Council. We have lowered the tax rate significantly, welcomed many new businesses to our city, and are following our strategic plan to make Lincolnton a destination , not a pass through to somewhere else.
I have lived inside the city limits of Lincolnton all my life. I graduated from Lincolnton High School, Campbell University, and received my Master’s Degree from Appalachian State University. I retired from Lincoln County Schools where I taught middle school for 31 years .
I have served locally on the Library Board, the Housing Authority Board, the Cultural Center Board , and was Lincoln County’s 2017 Woman of the Year. I also served on short term mission trips in Haiti 2007-2021.
1. Although we, the City Council, lowered our tax rate significantly , unfortunately the property evaluations during my term resulted in higher taxes for our residents, which we must address.
2. Our Police Chief secured a grant to provide a social worker to work with the police department to help address the needs of those experiencing mental health issues, many of which are in our homeless population. I will strongly support this much needed program .
3. Lincolnton is thriving and growing, both in businesses and in homes. Responsible growth is fundamental!
As Mayor, I will have a voice, but not a vote unless there is a tie vote during a City Council meeting.
I have enjoyed every minute of being a public servant ! I love it when people stop me to express their concerns while I am in the grocery store, at church, at events, or when I’m just taking a walk . I love our little town, and I want to be that helper they can trust to find their best solution !
