I am the best and most qualified candidate to continue serving as Sheriff of Brunswick County. I have spent 21.5 years serving with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, working in and supervising every division of the agency. For the past 2.5 years, I have had the honor of serving as Sheriff, leading this office through continued growth and evolving public safety challenges. I have dedicated my life to serving Brunswick County and making thoughtful, responsible decisions that benefit both our citizens and the law enforcement family I am proud to lead.
The top issues facing the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are managing rapid population growth while maintaining high standards of public safety and service. This includes recruiting, hiring, and retaining enough deputies and professional staff to support patrol operations, sustain existing community programs, and expand services that effectively meet the increasing demands of our growing community.
To date I have implemented two new key programs at the Sheriff's Office. ARROW program which gives inmates the opportunity to get the tools and skills needed to battle addiction. Second, our peer support team, which assists our first responders in the community after critical incidents for their mental well-being. Currently I am working on a quick response team for veterans in crisis. We were the first in the state to complete the veteran's response training through the Veterans Justice Initiative and I am looking forward to building on that.
Our greatest asset at the Sheriff's Office is our dedicated men and women. With increased pay, Sheriff’s Office can attract more sworn personnel by offering competitive compensation and continuing to foster a strong, supportive family-oriented culture that values teamwork, wellness, and professional growth. Increasing staffing levels across divisions will help balance workloads and reduce operational stress and improving compensation will help ease the financial strain of living in a county that has become increasingly expensive and will significantly reduce the stress deputies experience in the performance of their duties.
Building on and growing the ARROW program is what is going to be the greatest need in the detention center. Currently the program is in the early stages and completing year one. Proving and showing the need and success is going to be crucial in the renewal. Addiction can be linked to many crimes which inmates are currently incarcerated for.
I am so thankful for the support that Brunswick County has given our Sheriff's Office over my 21.5 years of service. We truly have some of the best citizens and rely on them to help us honor the oath we took to protect and serve. Safety in the county is not just a law enforcement issue; it is a community issue.

I bring more than 26 years of law enforcement experience and proven command leadership. As a Captain and Troop Commander with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, I’ve supervised personnel, managed operations, enforced the law, and made critical decisions under pressure. I have led teams, handled complex investigations, managed budgets, and coordinated with local, state, and federal partners. My education in human resources and organizational management strengthens my ability to lead people, ensure accountability, and steward taxpayer dollars responsibly. Brunswick County needs a sheriff prepared to lead on day one with experience, judgment, and integrity.
The most pressing challenge facing the Sheriff’s Office is restoring public trust while addressing rising public safety demands. Brunswick County is growing rapidly, and that growth combined with the opioid crisis has increased calls for service and strain on deputies. When trust is weakened, cooperation declines and public safety suffer. The Sheriff’s Office must provide steady leadership, support its deputies, and enforce the law fairly and consistently. Addressing addiction, protecting communities, and rebuilding confidence through transparency and accountability are essential to meeting this challenge and keeping Brunswick County safe.
I would focus on improvements that strengthen public safety, accountability, and support for deputies. This includes data-driven deployment to better cover rural and coastal areas, reducing excessive overtime through proper staffing, and expanding training that emphasizes professionalism and constitutional policing. I would strengthen partnerships to address the opioid crisis, targeting traffickers while supporting prevention efforts. I also support enhanced community outreach to rebuild trust and improve communication. Internally, I would prioritize leadership development and wellness resources for deputies, recognizing that taking care of our personnel directly improves service to the public.
Additional funding would allow the Sheriff’s Office to better support the people who provide public safety every day. Competitive pay for deputies, detention officers, and non-sworn staff is critical to improving recruitment, retention and reducing burnout caused by excessive overtime. More funding would also strengthen training, equipment, and staffing levels, particularly in rural and coastal areas. Investments in detention operations, mental health resources, and technology would improve safety for staff and the public. Responsible funding focused on personnel and core services ensures the Sheriff’s Office can meet growing demands while maintaining professionalism and accountability.
Public safety improves when people leave jail prepared to succeed. I support expanding reentry programs that reduce recidivism and protect our communities, including GED preparation and testing, job-readiness training, and practical skills such as basic construction trades, CDL readiness, culinary skills, maintenance, and custodial certifications. I would strengthen partnerships with local employers, community colleges, and workforce agencies to connect individuals to jobs upon release. Improving access to substance-abuse treatment, mental health support, and structured reentry planning is essential. Accountability matters, but helping people return to lawful work and family life is a practical, conservative approach to safer communities.
I believe the Office of Sheriff requires steady, experienced leadership grounded in service, accountability, and respect for the Constitution. Brunswick County is diverse in geography and needs rural communities, growing neighborhoods, and coastal areas all depend on a Sheriff’s Office that is professional, prepared, fiscally responsible, and trustworthy. My commitment is to support deputies and staff, enforce the law fairly, and restore public confidence through transparency and consistency. Public safety is not political; it is operational. I am running to serve, not to experiment, and I will lead with discipline, judgment, and integrity to keep Brunswick County safe for families, businesses, and future generations.
