The 5-member Board sets the policy for the county, determining the strategic vision for the county, appoints a county manager, attorney and others to serve the county, adopts ordinances, including zoning, and establishes an annual budget, which includes setting the tax rate and calling bond referendums. Commissioners are elected at-large from districts, are elected in even-numbered years on a partisan basis and serve staggered 4-year terms. Commissioners must reside in the district they represent.

Working in healthcare as an office manager, I have experience with budgets, compliance, regulations, and know how local county decisions directly weigh on small businesses. I have been on the Randolph County Soil and Water Board of District Supervisors and have dealt with county level budgets, worked with landowners and local and state representatives to solve county and state issues regarding conservation and apply federal and state resources and funding available to producers and landowners. We are the second state behind Texas to lose our farmland and I truly want to use my experience and knowledge to encourage strategic growth that respects the agriculture community. I also see family rights and agendas coming at a crossroads.
Water infrastructure, homelessness, lack of successful drug rehabilitation opportunities, and sprawling growth resulting in continued farmland loss.
Supporting our schools is a priority. Currently our county has not lost many students in our district compared to surrounding counties. However, we have aging schools and AI platforms that will need to be balanced with funding and growth in the very near future. I highly favor increasing school protections with RCO's and law enforcement.
Slowing growth so that it does not supersede our aging infrastructure, will help keep our taxes low. I do not want to put that investment on the backs of our taxpayers. Giving away tax benefits without incoming companies having any skin in the game, hurts our citizens. I want to hold these companies accountable to receiving our generous benefits and tax cuts up front. Not later.
I do not have the answers here. I'll be honest. This is one department that is currently struggling to keep up with the issues encompassing our seniors, children, and families. I have not had a seat at the table to understand the complexities and goals that have been discussed behind closed doors; however, I am fully competent, determined to find solutions, and capable of collaborating with county leaders and volunteers to determine the best course to better serve our county with the resources needed.
I love Randolph County. I want my children to raise their families here and I want to make sure I do the best job that the Lord allows me to do. I am not perfect, but I am just like everyone else out there who seeks to have a better future with many opportunities to raise our families, serve our aging communities, steward our viable farmlands, and improve generational wealth by keeping taxes low. In turn, increasing freedom. Thank you for taking the time to read my responses and considering me for County Commissioner. Please visit my website at carrieslatosky.com for more campaign information.
