The NC District Court hears civil cases involving less than $25,000 and criminal misdemeanors. District Court also oversees juvenile court and the magistrates, which handle things like small claims and evictions. Judges are elected for 4 year terms. There are 282 judges in 41 districts across the state, most of them covering either one or two counties. Legislation in 2023 numerically realigned/renumbered the District Court and other court districts to align with the Prosecutorial districts.

I believe that we the people demand and expect out judges to be on time and work to fairly administer justice and to allow every litigant a fair and impartial trial.

I have been practicing law for 40 years. I am a former prosecutor. I was a partner in a law firm for 32 years and specialize in family law and mediation. I was a certified juvenile court judge. I assisted writing our local and state rules for mediation and am certified mediator in our state. I have been selected as a business court mediator. I have also taught and published manuscripts for continuing education for lawyers.
It has some effect, but Judges are to be fair and impartial and treat all individuals the same. We are to follow the facts and law of each case before us.
I am a judge in the same courts I have been in for the last 40 years. My work has for the most part been restricted to the District Courts. I have a good working relationship with my fellow conservative judges. I have have handled every kind of family law case and I am dedicated to working daily to improve our system.
I understand what it is like to be a victim of crime. I had a gun pulled on me when I was 19, my house and apartment was broken into on three different occasions and I was involved in an almost head on collision with a drunk driver in 2018.
