I am running for Sheriff because I care deeply about the safety, trust, and quality of life in Weber County. I believe law enforcement works best when it is professional, accountable, and connected to the community it serves. My motivation comes from a desire to continue improving public safety, supporting the men and women who serve in the Sheriff’s Office, and ensuring we provide consistent and fair service to every resident. I want Weber County to remain a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
One major issue is drug addiction and mental health crises. We need strong enforcement against traffickers while continuing partnerships that connect people to treatment and support services. Second is recruitment and retention of quality law enforcement professionals. I will continue working to support competitive pay, training, wellness, and leadership development. Third is maintaining public trust. I believe in transparency, professionalism, constitutional policing, and building strong relationships with schools, cities, faith groups, and the community.
I have spent my career serving the people of Weber County and other communities in law enforcement and leadership roles. I have experience managing complex public safety operations, budgets, personnel, investigations, jail operations, and partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies. As Sheriff, I have worked closely with city leaders, schools, community organizations, and residents to improve communication and public safety services. My experience has taught me the importance of accountability, teamwork, and making decisions that serve the long-term interests of the county.
The Sheriff’s Office follows state and federal law while focusing primarily on local public safety responsibilities. Our deputies do not enforce civil immigration law as their primary duty. However, we cooperate with federal agencies when required by law, when public safety concerns are involved, or when dealing with serious criminal activity. I believe local law enforcement is most effective when people feel safe reporting crimes and cooperating with investigations, regardless of immigration status. Public safety and constitutional protections must both be respected.
I believe transparency and communication are essential to public trust. I will continue providing information through public meetings, media interviews, social media, community events, and direct engagement with residents and local leaders. I also believe in being accessible and willing to answer difficult questions. When decisions are made, I want the public to understand the reasoning behind them and how they affect public safety, employees, and taxpayers. Open communication helps strengthen confidence in government and law enforcement.
Disagreements are part of public service, and I believe they should be handled with professionalism and respect. I will continue to listen carefully, seek to understand differing viewpoints, and focus on facts, policy, and the best interests of the community. I believe strong relationships are built through honest communication, even when people disagree. As a leader, I remain calm, fair, and solutions-oriented while treating others with dignity. My goal is to build trust, resolve issues constructively, and keep the focus on serving Weber County effectively.
