Poverty & the number of unhoused families, as well as families who are affected by the rising cost of living and unreasonable inflation. There are several avenues by which these challenges may be addressed, such as promoting mindful practices when businesses first open & expand; fair pay with reasonable, routine raises and unionization. Housing needs to happen and, while it’s becoming more and more obvious that this initiative may take years, steps can be taken now to ensure that is in the works and a reasonable number of individuals & families in need can be accommodated within the next 2-3 years. This may mean a shift in mindset for some from communities with individual houses to multi family complexes, such as fourplexes & urban collectives. Certain folks, such as single parents with children & elderly, need and deserve prioritization. And that housing will need to feature amenities & accomodations that enhance their residents quality of life, like community rooms and a playground.
Transparency is already a focus of my daily-life; 20 years ago I first became a public servant (teacher) and since then, ethics has been at the forefront of my day-to-day life. Transparency matters when it comes to elected representatives’ motivation, decision-making, and role in community. Decisions can’t be made, as far as I’m concerned, without research and analyzing data. Data-based decision-making will ensure that legislative decisions made are in the best interest of all—tax-payers, communities in need, and the people, not only in my district, but those all around our county. Communication that is clear, fosters ingenuity while also facilitates dialogue, and involves various folks from various experiences is what’s needed to ensure that decisions in the 21st century are fair and beneficial to most (if not all).
