Our most important challenge is affordability. In the past, if you had a good job, you could afford to live in Onondaga County. Now, the people getting priced out of Onondaga County are teachers, nurses, and engineers. Instead of a legislature that burns $100 million of public money on an aquarium that no one wants, we need a legislature that invests in our quality of life by funding things like our parks department, health department, and our infrastructure. We also need leaders who are committed to housing. This year, we created a loan program to spur homebuilding. From my time in village government, I know what it takes to streamline building while respecting home rule.

We also face a water challenge. This year, I got funding for water monitoring on Otisco Lake, to protect that vital water source. We need to protect our existing water sources from threats like data centers. Our lakes are some of our greatest assets.
Staying in touch with constituents is important to me. When I was younger, I interned in the district offices of two Members of Congress and a NYS Assemblyman. I did a lot of constituent work and I know what a difference good constituent service can make in people's lives. To achieve transparency, I will stay in communication through regular town hall meetings or office hours, media availability, and social media engagement. I would like to publicize what is done at the County level. Because the County occupies a middle layer of government between the town and the State, it can be genuinely hard for voters to keep up with what the County is doing. I want to inform the public of important policy proposals and their consequences.
