The most important factor that led to this campaign were the inquiries from my neighbors whether I would be running this year after they felt they had been let down by their current representation. Being asked to serve my community while being given the opportunity to become the first elected Libertarian to the Oklahoma state legislature is both humbling and exciting.
Eliminating the individual income tax and reoccurring property tax on personal home properties. Shifting the tax burden from the individual workers and homeowners, allowing them to keep more of their hard earned money and the property they have already paid off.
Shifting from a K-12 to a K-10 model that would pay for either community college or technical programs during the two years after completion of the 10th grade. This would put students on a quicker path to higher education, paying an associate's degree or a career path in a useful trade in the same time as a conventional high school diploma, while saving Oklahoma taxpayers hundreds of millions per year.
Keeping a state insulated from a national economic downturn seem like nearly impossible task as it is likely to come from the over spending of the federal government itself and inflation of the currency, but there are some thing that can be done to protect Oklahoma's economy. Promoting the production and trade of local good within the state is a great start. If interstate commerce isn't an issue then the need for federal regulations should be a moot point, reducing the cost for local producers and consumers.
