Professional Experience 13+ years as a Registered Nurse, 3 years as a Case Manager. I have worked in hospitals, long-term care and community settings with a wide range of patient populations.
I wanted to give the people of District 9 a choice. So many races in Oklahoma are uncontested or decided in the primary. We deserve representation that will show up and listen to their constituents. I have spent 20+ years in the medical field in NE Oklahoma and I have seen how policy decisions directly effect people's lives. I pledge to put communities before corporations and people over profits.
I believe that improving Oklahoma's education and healthcare outcomes is the best way to draw young professionals. Raising a family is difficult and expensive; people want to live somewhere that will support them and provide opportunities. Increasing access to affordable childcare and decreasing the number of counties with no maternal healthcare provider would be a huge help to young families.
Public education is the foundation of a strong community. I believe we need to increase public education funding, give our educators more respect and better pay and focus on a well-rounded education instead of culture wars.
I believe it is important to invest in small local businesses and infrastructure. For too long Oklahoma's economic fate has been impacted by the volatile oil and gas industry. We need to look to the future and new opportunities for growth such as aerospace and drone technology.
