I think the idea that there’s a tradeoff between meeting clean energy goals and reducing costs is a false dichotomy. By investing in clean energy, Massachusetts can increase our energy production and supply, become more energy independent, and reduce the price of energy for residents and businesses.
We also need to address the greed of the utility companies; Eversource Energy made $1.6 billion in profits in 2025, while working people struggle to afford skyrocketing energy costs. Massachusetts should bring the power grid under public ownership; removing the profit motive would shift the focus towards providing good service at fair prices.
Health insurance companies in Massachusetts are raking in billions in profits by price-gouging their policyholders. We deserve a healthcare system that prioritizes public health over corporate profits, and that’s why I support H.1405, An Act Establishing Medicare for All in Massachusetts. A single-payer healthcare system will make healthcare free at the point-of-service, eliminate premiums, deductibles, and copays, and reduce the overall cost of Massachusetts’s healthcare system.
I support H.517, An Act to Provide a Sustainable Future for Rural Schools, which would guarantee $60 million in annual state funding for rural school districts. Rural districts, such as Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District and Gateway School District, face unique funding challenges, as small rural communities often lack the property tax base to properly fund thriving school districts. By providing abundant rural school aid, we can improve rural schools while relieving pressure on municipal budgets.
I firmly believe in democracy and will fight to ensure that our elections are fair and accessible. I support efforts to make it easier for people to vote, such as mail-in voting, early in-person voting, and same-day voter registration.
As the grandson of immigrants, I’m deeply disturbed the current administration’s treatment of our immigrant communities. Massachusetts should not be partaking in the cruelty and chaos that ICE is inflicting; that’s why I support the PROTECT Act, which prevents state and local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE, among other protections for our immigrant communities.
