I know what it’s like to watch a paycheck disappear before the bills are paid. My first priority is lowering energy costs, because energy drives housing, food, healthcare, and childcare costs. I support an “all of the above” carbon-free plan: SMR nuclear, fusion research, networked geothermal, expanded hydro, and smarter solar incentives. Massachusetts now imports too much energy, including dirty oil, and families pay the price. I’ll also push healthcare price transparency, PBM reform, broader Medicare drug negotiation, expanded telehealth, housing tax credits with zoning reform, childcare tax credits, vocational training, school choice, and lower regulatory costs for food.
We need comprehensive immigration reform, not political theater. Massachusetts should not be a sanctuary state, but enforcement must be targeted and respect due process. I support state-federal cooperation, including 287(g)-style agreements, to identify and remove people convicted of serious crimes, not conduct indiscriminate sweeps. I would reform H-1B visas by raising wage floors, auditing for worker displacement, and requiring employers to show they cannot fill jobs with available American workers. I support a durable legislated pathway for DREAMers with clean records, plus more immigration judges and asylum officers to cut backlogs and resolve claims quickly.
Free and fair elections require public trust and clean government. My Clean Hands Act would impose congressional term limits, end Leadership PAC slush funds, ban foreign lobbying and contributions by former officials, require disclosure of paid “shadow lobbying,” and strengthen foreign influence registration. I also support federal minimum standards for post-election audits and chain-of-custody documentation, funded through existing Election Assistance Commission grants, without federalizing state election administration. Finally, I support straightforward voter ID requirements, which large majorities of Americans favor, to protect election integrity and confidence.
Massachusetts’s climate and affordability problems are linked. We once produced most of our energy; now we import too much, including dirty oil, which raises bills and emissions. I support an “all of the above” carbon-free strategy: SMR nuclear, fusion R&D, networked geothermal, expanded hydro, and reformed solar incentives. SMRs can deliver reliable, low-carbon power with far less land use than wind or solar alone. I also support a targeted Jones Act waiver so New England can buy cleaner, cheaper American gas during the transition. Public land decisions should be transparent, local, and accountable.
AI policy should protect innovation, privacy, civil rights, and national security. I support a bipartisan federal framework that includes independent audits of large AI developers, mandatory incident reporting, and disclosure of environmental impacts from data centers. Companies should report when AI materially affects hiring or layoffs. Law enforcement use must have guardrails, including warrant requirements before facial recognition or predictive tools support arrests, plus bias audits for sentencing or parole systems. Federal agencies should disclose AI use in defense and contracting, with congressional oversight and strong cybersecurity standards.
I have not pledged support to either party’s choice for majority leader because the Senate must be independent. As a pro-choice moderate who supports civil rights, equal treatment under law, and marriage equality, I won’t be a rubber stamp. I would enforce the War Powers Resolution so presidents cannot launch military action without Congress, apply serious confirmation review to judicial and executive nominees regardless of party, and use appropriations power to check executive overreach. My Clean Hands Act would also target conflicts of interest and abuses across both the executive and legislative branches.
The affordability crisis is the result of policy choices that put corporate profits ahead of working people. I will expand affordable housing, rental assistance, tenant protections, and first-generation homeownership while taking on corporate landlords and private equity. I support Medicare for All, lower prescription drug prices, universal affordable child care, an expanded Child Tax Credit, stronger SNAP benefits, and universal school meals. As the Senate author of the Green New Deal, I will invest in clean energy, weatherization, LIHEAP, and fare-free transit to lower household costs. I will also raise wages, strengthen unions, stop price-gouging, cancel student debt, and make billionaires and corporations pay their fair share.
I was the first U.S. senator to call for abolishing ICE, and I voted against its creation. I will oppose funding that expands deportation forces or detention, end private immigration detention, and redirect resources toward humane case management, legal representation, and timely asylum processing. I support a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, essential workers, and undocumented immigrants; protections for schools, hospitals, and other sensitive locations; and restored refugee admissions. My Qualified Immunity Abolition Act would let victims hold federal agents accountable, while my Naturalization and Oath Ceremony Protection Act would protect approved applicants from arbitrary delays and discrimination.
The Senate should pass the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, even if that requires eliminating the filibuster for voting-rights legislation. We should establish automatic and same-day voter registration, protect early and mail voting, restore federal oversight where discrimination persists, ban partisan gerrymandering, and restore voting rights after incarceration. We must also protect election workers from threats, strengthen election security, require disclosure of dark money through the DISCLOSE Act, and advance a constitutional amendment overturning Citizens United.
I am the Senate author of the Green New Deal, I helped deliver historic clean-energy investments, and have spent decades fighting fossil-fuel pollution and corporate obstruction. I will end fossil-fuel subsidies, accelerate renewable energy and transmission through my CHARGE Act and BETTER Grid Act, and ensure clean-energy jobs are union jobs with strong wages and worker protections. I will also expand LIHEAP and weatherization to lower energy bills, protect public lands and waters from drilling, and center environmental justice, Tribal sovereignty, and frontline communities in every federal climate decision.
AI must be transparent, accountable, and subject to human oversight. My AI Civil Rights Act would require bias testing and safeguards when algorithms affect benefits, employment, housing, health care, policing, or incarceration. My Eliminating Bias in Algorithmic Systems Act would establish civil-rights offices in agencies that use or oversee AI. I oppose facial recognition and biometric surveillance by ICE and CBP through my ICE Out of Our Faces Act. Federal contracts should require independent audits, data minimization, cybersecurity, public reporting, and clear appeals for harmful decisions. AI must never independently authorize lethal military action or launch nuclear weapons.
The Senate must reclaim its role as a coequal branch. I will strengthen congressional subpoena enforcement, protect inspectors general and whistleblowers, block unlawful impoundment of federal funds, limit emergency powers, defend an independent civil service and Justice Department, and require congressional authorization for war. I support the Protecting Our Democracy Act to prevent presidential corruption and abuse. The Senate must also conduct rigorous judicial oversight by establishing an enforceable Supreme Court ethics code, stronger disclosure and recusal rules, and term limits. My Judiciary Act would expand the Court to 13 justices and restore balance and legitimacy.
