Howard County Council District 2
The County Council holds the financial powers of the county, serving as a check on the County Commissioners. The County Council adopts the annual budget after estimates are submitted by the various county agencies. They fix the tax rate for county properties. They have the power to set local income taxes and wheel taxes. The County Council sets the salaries for county officers based on recommendations by the County Commissioners. There are seven County Council members, three elected at large, and one from each of four districts. They are elected to four-year terms on a staggered basis.

Describe your background.
Member of the Howard County Council since August 2022
I have served as a member of the Howard County Council since Aug. 2022. Immediately prior to that I served, for 5 years, as a member of the Howard County Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA). I am also an active member of the Grissom Community Council (GCC) - an NPO with the goal of helping Reservists assigned at Grissom ARB.
Working effectively with the other members of the County Council to make well informed and wise fiscal decisions for the citizens of Howard County. Dealing appropriately with the various issues related to the necessary and sufficient funding of county government operations is always a top priority for me and the other members of the Howard County Council.
I currently serve as a Howard County Council representative to the Howard County Food Access Coalition -- working with other community NPO leaders such as the Purdue Extension Service, the Kokomo Rescue Mission and several other community and church leaders. This coalition of community leaders meets monthly to address local food insecurity issues and propose timely and appropriate actions. As a County Council member, I anticipate continuing to serve with the Howard County Food Access Coalition.
