I have been on the Michigan Township Board since 2014.and have served as the Board Secretary since January 2015. This has provided me with experience and knowledge of the yearly budget and annual reports and the township spending. The three Board Members are the Oversight Committee for the Township Trustee.
The loss of funding from the National, State and Local funding sources is difficult to work around. This is happening every year now. Expenses are increasing in every aspect of Michigan Township residents lives. We need to provide assistance to our clients for housing, utilities and through referrals where they can receive additional services. We will have a new Townhip Trustee in January and I look forward to working with him.
In Michigan Township we do not provide fire protection to our local fire departments. Improving services is always our goal. The Trustee and staff meet with the clients regarding their needs. The Board discuss what they provide and will always seek to improve what they are doing.
Increasing our funding sources, which are government funds, would help provide more services. There are strict state guidelines which must be followed to receive our assistance. If the requested verifications or rules are not provided, they are denied assistance.
Most denials for assistance are failure to provide documentations providing residence and income verification. We need for any clients to recognize and understand the importance of the guidelines. When someone is denied they often times blame the Trustee or staff. We want to help everyone who needs assistance.
