Experience and Qualifications
I am a Dominican-American mother, wife, author, small-business owner, and community advocate who has called the Bronx home since coming to the United States as a child. I grew up in the Claremont section of the Bronx, graduated from Morris High School, and earned a degree in Culinary Arts from Monroe College. My experience as an immigrant, mother, entrepreneur, and community advocate has given me firsthand knowledge of the challenges working families face. I have worked to promote children's literacy, support women entrepreneurs, strengthen community organizations, and encourage greater civic participation. My decision to seek public office became deeply personal after losing my nephew, Juan Peña, to gun violence. That tragedy strengthened my determination to fight for safer neighborhoods and for families who too often feel forgotten by government. I am running because District 86 deserves an Assemblymember who is accessible, independent, and willing to fight for my community.

I have championed children's literacy, supported women entrepreneurs, promoted civic engagement, and advocated for safer neighborhoods after losing my nephew to gun violence. My top priorities are public safety, affordability, and education. I will fight for safer streets by supporting law enforcement while investing in youth programs, mental-health services, and violence prevention. I will work to reduce the financial burden on working families, support small businesses, and bring jobs and investment to the Bronx. I will also fight for better schools, stronger literacy programs, vocational education, school safety, and greater parental involvement. District 86 deserves an Assemblymember who puts families and results ahead of politics.
New York can protect our environment without making working families choose between environmental goals and paying their bills. I support cleaner energy, modernizing our electrical grid, energy efficiency, innovation, and considering safe nuclear power as part of a reliable energy portfolio. In the Bronx, we also need cleaner streets, more trees and green spaces, better protection from flooding and extreme heat, and improvements to aging infrastructure. Environmental policy should produce real results without disproportionately burdening low- and middle-income families.
Every New Yorker deserves equal treatment under the law and a genuine opportunity to succeed regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, religion, national origin, or economic background. As a Dominican-American immigrant who grew up in the Bronx, I believe opportunity begins with safe neighborhoods, excellent schools, good jobs, and access to entrepreneurship and homeownership. I will support workforce development, vocational education, language access, and government accountability. Our goal should be equality before the law and equality of opportunity for every New Yorker.
New Yorkers deserve fair districts and elections in which voters choose their representatives not politicians choosing their voters. I support protecting voting rights while strengthening transparency and accountability in New York's redistricting process. Proposed maps and supporting data should be public, communities should have meaningful opportunities to participate, and districts should comply with constitutional and voting-rights protections. I oppose racial discrimination and partisan manipulation of district lines by either party. Voting rights belong to the people, not political parties.
