My top three priorities are: safety, affordability, and prosperity. Public service is about delivering results for all New Yorkers, and that starts with affordability, safety, and opportunity — three things that are interconnected. It also means we must protect our environment while focused on these three priorities.

I will fight to lower costs and put money back in New Yorker's pockets. On safety, I authored Daniel's Law to bring a more effective, compassionate approach to mental health crisis response. As Chair of the Assembly Labor Committee, I've worked to expand workforce development, registered apprenticeships, job training, and green energy jobs.

Affordability, safety, and prosperity aren't separate agendas to me — they're one goal: building a stronger Rochester and Monroe County where every family can thrive.

Protecting our environment means sustained investment across every sector of our economy — buildings, transportation, energy, and our natural resources. That's why I fought for and secured $1B for the "Sustainable Futures Fund" in last year's budget with a second wave of $1B funding again this year.

I will continue to support funding for the Environmental Protection Fund and the annual investment in the Clean Water Infrastructure Act. I also helped to secure $200M for thermal energy networks, and full implementation of the $4.2B Environmental Bond Act that voters previously approved.

None of this works without a skilled workforce. I've expanded green job training programs to make sure workers aren't left behind in this transition, and I support strong labor standards — prevailing wage and project labor agreements — on every state-supported clean energy project. Done right, the clean energy transition can be a source of good paying jobs, not a threat to them.

I believe equity must be built into how we govern, not treated as an afterthought. That starts with economic opportunity — I advocate for marginalized communities to make sure all people, regardless of race or background, have equal access to employment and the training that leads to good jobs. My support for environmental justice funding reflects that same principle: investments like the Clean Fuel Standard direct resources specifically to disadvantaged communities, and I've co-sponsored legislation like the Beauty Justice Act because research shows women of color face disproportionately high exposure to toxic chemicals in everyday products — that's an environmental issue and a racial justice issue at once.

The Supreme Court's decision in Louisiana v. Callais significantly narrowed Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, making it much harder to challenge maps that dilute the voting power of Black & Latino communities. That should concern every New Yorker who believes in fair representation, even though the case came out of Louisiana.

New York shouldn't wait for D.C. to act. I'd support strengthening our own John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act, which already gives NY independent tools to fight discriminatory maps & election practices at the state and local level, so it remains a strong backstop regardless of what happens to federal protections. I'd also push to make sure our own redistricting processes stay insulated from the kind of manipulation we're seeing in states like LA, FL, and TX; I will continue to support Attorney General James's work on this front.
