My top three priorities are affordability, economic opportunity, and strong, safe communities. First, we must make New York more affordable by addressing high taxes, energy costs, housing expenses, and burdensome mandates that impact families, seniors, farmers, and small businesses. Second, I will continue supporting policies that strengthen small businesses, agriculture, workforce development, and good-paying jobs so more people can build their future here. Third, I will work to strengthen our communities by supporting public safety, volunteer fire and EMS, infrastructure, education, and access to essential services, particularly in rural areas. My focus will remain on practical, common-sense solutions that make New York a better place to live, work, raise a family, and retire.

New York should pursue practical climate policies that reduce emissions while protecting affordability, reliability, jobs, agriculture, and local communities. I support an all-of-the-above energy strategy that includes nuclear, hydropower, renewables, and reliable dual-fuel and natural gas generation needed to maintain grid reliability. We should invest in grid modernization, flood mitigation, stormwater systems, emergency preparedness, and infrastructure that makes communities more resilient to severe weather. We must also protect forests and productive farmland. Climate policies should undergo meaningful cost-benefit and reliability reviews and recognize the unique needs of rural communities. We can protect our environment and reduce emissions without sacrificing reliability or placing an unsustainable financial burden on families, farmers, and businesses.

I believe every New Yorker deserves to be treated fairly, have equal protection under the law, and have the opportunity to succeed regardless of race, background, ZIP code, or economic status. My focus is on policies that expand opportunity and address barriers where they exist. That includes strengthening educational and workforce opportunities, supporting small businesses and good-paying jobs, improving access to affordable housing and healthcare, and ensuring rural and underserved communities receive their fair share of state resources. I also believe justice means safe communities, a fair and accountable criminal justice system, and equal application of our laws. We should confront discrimination where it exists while focusing on policies that bring people together rather than divide them. My goal is simple: equal opportunity, equal treatment, and a government that works fairly for every New Yorker.

The Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais reinforces my concerns about the direction New York is taking on redistricting. This past session, I voted against S.10637A/A.11553A, a proposed constitutional amendment that would give the Legislature greater authority to redraw congressional districts between the normal ten-year census cycles while removing or rewriting existing constitutional redistricting safeguards. Considering Callais, New York should carefully review our redistricting laws and proposed constitutional changes to ensure they comply with federal law and protect every voter equally. New Yorkers deserve to know why existing protections are being removed and why Albany needs greater authority to redraw congressional maps. Redistricting should be constitutional, fair and transparent, not an opportunity for either party to manipulate district lines for political advantage.
