The New York State Assembly is the lower chamber of the New York State Legislature. Alongside the New York State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the New York state government and works alongside the governor of New York to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities of the New York State Assembly include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.The New York State Assembly meets in the state capitol building in Albany, New York.New York State Assembly district 126 includes Onondaga, Cayuga, Cortland and Chenango Counties

Lowering healthcare & utility costs to raise wages, getting corporate spending out of our elections, and protecting our Finger Lakes
We need an emergency investment to stop and reverse harmful algal blooms in our lakes, we should also incentivize residential and small scale renewables that are owned by people not corporations
Laws that have historically had disproportionate impacts on marginalized groups should be regularly examined and we should take care not to repeat those mistakes in all that we do.
Unfortunately, other states have used this decision to further gerrymander outside of the normal census window. NYS must respond in kind for its Congressional districts, but put in place laws to revert to the normal process in the future. NYS should model good governance when drawing its state legislative districts and strengthen its non-partisan process ahead of the next census.
