The New York State Assembly is the lower chamber of the New York State Legislature. Alongside the New York State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the New York state government and works alongside the governor of New York to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities of the New York State Assembly include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.The New York State Assembly meets in the state capitol building in Albany, New York.Assembly District 102 includes all of Greene and Schoharie counties and parts of Albany, Delaware, and Otsego counties.

Experience and Qualifications
I am a local elected official for more than 8 years, physical therapist for more than 20 years, and community volunteer for even longer. I believe that serving my community is key to promoting the good that is in the world.
Community Involvement
Elected official currently serving on the Village board and previously on the Town board; community volunteer with the Delhi Rotary club, Delhi Beautification Committee and Corporation, Delhi's Fair on the Square and other community groups.

Improve Healthcare:
We can lower healthcare costs and improve access by prioritizing people over corporate profits. Janet seeks to support seniors who want to age in place, expand school-based health centers, encourage providers to work in underserved rural communities, and guarantee universal healthcare for all New Yorkers.
Empower Rural Infrastructure:
Safe, affordable infrastructure is key to economic development and quality of life. Janet supports increasing housing stocks of all types; lowering energy costs through better regulating NYSEG and AI data centers and thoughtfully increasing renewable energy; and changing the way Albany distributes funding to be more equitable for rural communities.
Protect Communities and the Constitution:
None of us are free until all of us are free. Janet supports women’s right to choose, LGBTQ+ folks’ right to live freely and without fear, citizens’ right to due process, a fair and speedy trial, and freedom from unreasonable search and seizure.

2. Promoting housing and growth of communities that are person-centered and not car-centered.
3. Increasing Shared Services projects to include public transportation expansion across town and county lines with reduced paperwork (red tape).
Racial disparities persist in housing, education, salaries, and health outcomes because of many historical and current policies and practices that are rooted in racism. For example, the recent Supreme Court decision giving ICE permission to stop individuals based in part on their race or ethnicity has resulted in hundreds of U.S. citizens and lawfully present residents being detained, beaten, and imprisoned (for example, a recent story in Military.com reports that two young U.S. citizens were beaten and arrested by ICE on their way to join the Marines). The 4th amendment of the Constitution specifies that all people must remain free from unreasonable search and seizure, unless police possess a warrant or legitimate probable cause. Racism is not probable cause. I cherish the freedoms enshrined in the Constitution and would protect them for all people.
Redistricting must not disenfranchise minority groups. Any redistricting must include safeguards to ensure that all New Yorkers have representation. New York should uphold the tenets of the Voting Rights Act that have been dismantled by this decision. New York took similar steps to uphold personal liberties and protections after the Supreme Court's decision to reverse Roe v. Wade.
