The New York State Assembly is the lower chamber of the New York State Legislature. Alongside the New York State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the New York state government and works alongside the governor of New York to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities of the New York State Assembly include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.The New York State Assembly meets in the state capitol building in Albany, New York.New York State Assembly District 93 includes parts of Westchester county.
Experience and Qualifications
I have served for almost 3 terms as the NYS Assemblymember for the 93rd Assembly District. I have been an effective legislator (getting many bills across the finish line), and my office has built a reputation for being very responsive and compassionate. Prior to being an Assemblymember, I served as the Bedford Town Supervisor for 7 years, and was a title insurance attorney before that.

Since taking office in 2021, I have prioritized constituent services, the infrastructure needs of my district, and legislation, particularly focusing on people with disabilities, the environment, housing, and utilities. I will continue to do so.
The landmark Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) remains the leading climate action plan in the nation. Since its 2019 enactment, the Legislature has focused on paving the way for successful implementation. We must also increase funding for safe drinking water and for wastewater projects through grants to municipalities in dire need of remediation.
NYS took a big step forward in passing the Equal Rights Amendment, ensuring that NYS residents’ fundamental rights are protected. Further, we must address inequities in our justice system, including prevention programs and safe prison alternatives, such as mandatory drug treatment. Access to decent health care, affordable housing, quality education, and freedom from food insecurity should be treated as basic rights. These steps will help address social and racial inequities and are imperative to achieving a more equal and just society.
NYS has a Congressional Redistricting Amendment, which passed both houses, that responds to redistricting efforts around the country. The proposal would give New York greater flexibility in determining congressional district boundaries. If approved again by the next Legislature in 2027 and approved by voters in a statewide referendum, the changes would allow congressional districts to be redrawn before the 2028 elections. I support this amendment.
