Irene Guanill has a life of service from helping seniors as a young student. Irene has always been an advocate for others. She joined Community Board 10 in 2014-2022 and held the position of 1st Vice Chair. Irene has been the Pelham Bay Merchants President since 2012.

Expand reliable low-carbon energy—including nuclear, renewables, hydropower, storage, and cleaner technologies.
Offer tax credits and grants for energy-efficient buildings instead of forcing homeowners and co-ops into unaffordable conversions.
Require government funding mandates to include the money needed for compliance.
Improve public transportation while preserving reasonable choices for drivers.
Protect trees, wetlands, parks, and coastal communities.
Upgrade drainage, seawalls, cooling centers, and emergency systems to prepare for flooding and extreme heat.
Hold major polluters accountable while protecting small businesses and working families.
Measure whether programs actually reduce emissions—and eliminate wasteful programs that do not.
Climate change requires responsible action, but environmental policy must also be economically sustainable.
Common Sense Policies need to be in place. Repeat criminals need to be held accountable for their actions. Employment opportunities and criminal justice reforms must work together affording people opportunities. Recognizing the victims and protecting their rights and community safety overall needs to be addressed.
This seems to be an issue of inequality vs how a district lines are mapped. All communities should have the same opportunities to thrive. Maps do not create communities, people do and when all are treated equally a map should not box people in but free all of us to enjoy live, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
