The New York State Assembly is the lower chamber of the New York State Legislature. Alongside the New York State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the New York state government and works alongside the governor of New York to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities of the New York State Assembly include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.The New York State Assembly meets in the state capitol building in Albany, New York.Assembly District 32 includes parts of Queens county.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Protecting and preserving affordable housing is a top priority. Together, we will strengthen oversight of Mitchell-Lama developments like Rochdale Village, fight deed theft and foreclosure, expand home repair support for seniors, partner with faith-based institutions to develop unused property, and demand long-overdue repairs and investment for NYCHA residents.
EDUCATION: FROM CRADLE TO CAREER
Every child deserves opportunity from early childhood through career. Together we will expand 3K and Pre-K, support trade and workforce pathways, protect the Excelsior Scholarship, ensure reduced class sizes are implemented, defend reproductive freedom, and advocate for special needs students, implement more social services for youth.
TRANSPORTATION & INFRASTRUCTURE
Reliable transportation connects our community to jobs, schools, and healthcare. We will improve bus routes and add needed stops, expand cross-town options, ensure seniors have accessible transit.
Environmental Justice can address climate change by making sure the communities most affected by pollution, flooding, heat waves, and poor air quality receive protection and investment first. Communities of color are disproportionately affected by pollution and climate risks. In order to address this, we must do more to
reduce pollution in low-income neighborhoods, invest in clean energy jobs. improving public transit access, address lead exposure and water quality. Through this, climate resilience and public health can be improved and climate change can be addressed.
We have already passed the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of New York, which protects minority voters and requires review of certain election changes to prevent discrimination. Expanding language access, early voting, and voter education programs would further improve participation among marginalized communities and amidst what is happening nationally around voting strengthening and promoting this is crucial.
We can look to expand State Constitutional Protections with the state legislature by adopt amendments to guarantee Equal voting opportunity, Fair representation and Protection against racial vote dilution. We can also strengthen the New York Voting Rights Act and clarify protections by making it easier to challenge racially discriminatory district maps in state court and require stronger review of local redistricting decisions.
