The New York State Assembly is the lower chamber of the New York State Legislature. Alongside the New York State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the New York state government and works alongside the governor of New York to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities of the New York State Assembly include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.The New York State Assembly meets in the state capitol building in Albany, New York.Assembly District 25 includes parts of Queens county.

My goal is to deliver practical results for Queens families—making our communities more affordable, our schools stronger, and New York a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
New York must continue leading the nation in confronting climate change while preparing our communities for the impacts we are already experiencing. I sponsor the Rain Ready Act in the Assembly because we need to invest in climate resilience—including flood protection, stormwater infrastructure, coastal resiliency, and extreme-heat preparedness—so that communities are better protected from increasingly severe storms, flooding, and heat.
Climate policy must also be an economic and environmental justice issue. The communities most vulnerable to pollution and climate impacts should receive targeted investments, good-paying clean-energy jobs, and meaningful opportunities to participate in decisions about their future.
New York should be a state where a person's race, zip code, or economic circumstances do not determine their opportunities or their treatment under the law. I will continue pursuing policies that address inequities at their roots while ensuring that government services and institutions work fairly for every New Yorker.
While we must respect the limits established by the Supreme Court, New York should use every lawful tool available to protect voting rights and ensure fair representation. New York should respond by ensuring that our own redistricting laws and practices provide the strongest possible protections against racial discrimination.
