The New York State Assembly is the lower chamber of the New York State Legislature. Alongside the New York State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the New York state government and works alongside the governor of New York to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities of the New York State Assembly include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.The New York State Assembly meets in the state capitol building in Albany, New York.Assembly District 22 includes parts of Nassau county.

Experience and Qualifications
As a lifelong Elmont resident and Assemblymember first elected in 2012, I bring deep community roots and legislative experience. I chair the Assembly Committee on Local Governments and have championed property tax relief, affordable childcare, maternal health, and support for working families and small businesses.
Community Involvement
My community involvement includes organizing with civic and nonprofit groups, co-hosting Elmont Family Day, supporting the teen space at Elmont Memorial Library, and working to bring a YMCA-operated community center to Elmont. These efforts bring neighbors together and expand opportunities for young people and families.

1. Lower everyday costs:Fight for property tax relief, affordable childcare, and lower utility bills for working families and seniors.
2. Strengthen public schools:Secure fair funding for our schools, expand early childhood education, and support student mental health.
3. Build healthier communities: Improve maternal healthcare, protect clean drinking water, and invest in local infrastructure and youth programs.
New York should expand clean energy and make energy efficiency upgrades affordable for homeowners, renters, and small businesses. We must also invest in flood prevention, stronger stormwater systems, and a more resilient electric grid to protect Long Island from extreme weather. I support holding major polluters accountable for climate damage while protecting working families from higher costs.
Every family deserves a fair chance, regardless of their race, ZIP code, or income. For me, that means fighting for fair funding for our schools, addressing the unacceptable disparities in Black maternal health, and making childcare more affordable. I will also work to strengthen protections for people facing discrimination when looking for a home or applying for a job.
New York must stand up for every voter’s right to fair representation. After this ruling, I would prioritize defending our state’s John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act and funding its enforcement. That includes reviewing covered local election changes before they take effect, protecting language assistance, and challenging discrimination. I would also push Congress to restore strong federal voting rights protections.
