Experience and Qualifications
I am a long-time public servant who has spent the past ten years in the State Education Department as NYS Historian. Previous to that I was the Executive Director of the Museum Association of NY, a non-profit organization that supports the state's multi-billion dollar museum field. Previous to that I was Legislative Director and Committee Clerk for Assemblyman Steve Englebright, chair of the Assembly Committee on Tourism, Arts, Parks and Sports Development and, later, the Governmental Operations committee. I know how state government works at both the agency and legislative levels. I am also a steward for the Public Employees Federation Division 194, a published author, an award-winning podcast host, and adjunct professor of history at the University at Albany..

My family is supports a variety of community organizations including Troy Sidewalk Warriors, the Averill Park Education Fund, Hudson Taconic Lands, the Agricultural Stewardship Association, and the Regional Food Bank.,

Supporting Working Families--I will support policies and budget priorities that benefit all workers. We need real policies that deal with the high cost of living, access to quality healthcare, stagnant wages, lack of benefits, childcare costs, and other issues that weigh on all of us.
Education: I know firsthand that an educated and trained population can meet the demands of the modern world head-on. It starts with ensuring that our public schools are fully funded. We also need to realize that after high school there is often further education and experience that is needed, be it in trade schools, apprenticeship programs, or college. I will support all pathways to success.
Infrastructure Improvements-- It might not be a flashy topic, but the reality is that our district’s infrastructure is aging and in need of serious updates. When elected, I will work to ensure that long needed infrastructure improvements happen so that Upstate residents can thrive.
Continue Green Energy Incentives--Despite the federal government's abject failure in this regard, green energy incentives help to level the playing field against a heavily subsidized fossil fuel industry.
Improve Energy Efficiency--Reducing energy use across buildings, industry, public and private spaces, energy generation and transmission, and transportation helps lower emissions.
Regenerative Agriculture--Practices such as improving soil health, reducing livestock emissions, direct seeding, and planting cover crops can cut emissions, strengthen resilience, and lower costs for farmers.
Forest Management and Conservation--Protecting and expanding forests helps absorb carbon dioxide, lowering greenhouse gas levels while also supporting biodiversity, reducing deforestation and degradation, and improving water cycles.
I will support any policy that seeks to ensure an end to systemic racism in NYS. These include support for fair housing initiatives, environmental justice initiatives, equal and fair access to fully-funded quality public schools, and the right for workers to organize, no matter the industry.
It is my firm belief that every citizen of our district should be afforded the same respect and opportunity to succeed no matter their gender, race, spiritual beliefs, identification, or how they happened to come to this country. Today’s political discourse attempts to divide us, to pit us against each other, to sow hatred and fear. We cannot allow this to happen because if we do, we will fail as a state and as a nation. I will stand up for the rights of all New Yorkers and all Americans.
Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act was a landmark achievement of the Civil Rights Movement that prohibited voting discrimination based on race, color, or membership in a language minority group. Louisiana v. Callais destroyed that achievement. New York State must move to ensure that it strengthens these protections and completely codifies them into state law. As the Federal government continues to dismantle minority rights, it is up to the states to act as bulwarks against these moves that weaken the victories of the Civil Rights Movement.
