1. Energy Affordability: Lower energy costs by confronting the energy crisis with an all-of-the-above approach. We cannot choose energy sources based on party lines. New York should responsibly use wind, solar, hydropower, natural gas, and nuclear energy, using each where it is most reliable, efficient, and appropriate. That is how we build a more affordable, dependable energy future.
2. Taxes/Budeget: This year’s New York State budget is nearly $270 billion, up from approximately $254 billion last year and $175 billion in 2018–19. My priority will be to curb spending, eliminate waste, remove unfunded mandates, and deliver meaningful property-tax relief for Hudson Valley families, making New York more affordable for everyone.
3. Public Saftey: As Westchester County Deputy Sheriff, Yorktown Police Commissioner. I see how cashless bail and discovery reform threaten our safety. We need common-sense policies that protect Hudson Valley families and communities. I have the experience!
New York state needs to pursue a diversified energy portfolio. While the state has invested heavily in wind and solar, for instance, it has failed to properly invest in legacy producers like hydro. Hydropower is a proven source of energy and there are numerous companies that seek to construct or rehabilitate smaller hydropower dams to provide emissions-free energy to small towns and villages throughout the state that should be supported.
Along with Hydro, NYS needs to harness all types of energy producers including wind, solar, gas and nuclear. It is the only way to win the enrgy crisis and deliver real relief to Hudson Valley families.
As for any other considerations, the state should also invest in resiliency. Any way the state can mitigate flooding, the erosion of infrastructure like roads and bridges, or prevent/limit power outages should be pursued and invested in.
Everyone should be treated equally, including by our state’s laws. As issues arise I will look at the merits of each and every instance and work with my colleagues to determine whether a legislative remedy is necessary in order to help facilitate fairness in our laws and society.
In Yorktown I have always been a proponent of equal treatment and have also treated everyone with the respect and dignity we all deserve as members of the human race.
New York’s Constitution already provides a safeguard against gerrymandering. In 2014, voters approved the Independent Redistricting Commission by a 58–42 margin to draw congressional and state legislative districts without partisan control by the Legislature. I support that goal.
In 2021, the Legislature sought to weaken the commission through proposed changes that would have reduced meaningful safeguards, including legislative voting thresholds and Senate-district border requirements. New Yorkers rejected those changes by a similar margin.
Now, the Assembly and Senate have again advanced a constitutional amendment that could weaken the IRC and may go before voters next November. Voters (not politicians) should decide who represents them. Redistricting should protect communities and fair representation, not political incumbents or party interests. If elected to State Senate, I will vote against this resolution and fight to keep politics out of New York’s redistricting process.
