Jackson Township Board Member {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

Citizens of each township elect three members to the township board for four-year terms. Board members must be residents and qualified voters of the township. The township board has responsibilities within the township similar to those exercised by the county council, including· Adopting the annual township budget· Approve township contracts, including contracts with not-for-profit corporations to provide health and community services· Serves as township board of finance· Fix tax rates for various funds, imposing property tax levies, subject to review by the county board of tax adjustment and the state board of tax commissioners· Township trustees must attend all meetings of the township board. The board must keep a record of its proceedings which remains in the custody of the chairman of the board

I was raised in Jackson township, and I returned as an adult to raise my own family. After 34 years, I retired from an organization that's mission was to advocate, care, teach and serve, with emphasis on the most vulnerable population in the community. I want to continue to serve in a new capacity in the community I have always called home. I have served as a poll worker and precinct committee person in Jackson Township for nearly 20 years. I want to bring bipartisan views to the advisory board to better represent all the taxpayers of Jackson Township.
I will support the current Township Trustee in her mission and work with the other advisory board members to continue the work of providing funding for fire protection, historical cemeteries and poor relief. I will learn about policies and procedures governing local Trustees and work to continue to ensure a fiscally responsible budget in this time of widespread financial difficulties. I will ensure funds are allocated appropriately to achieve all three goals.
Fire protection, cemeteries and poor relief are the three major responsibilities of the Township Trustee, and they are funded by the taxpayers through property tax.
As a lifelong member of the Brown County community, I am familiar with many of the challenges that our community is facing. I will use any and all means necessary to stay abreast of the issues that affect Jackson township and the needs of this close-knit community.
The role of the Trustees and the Advisory Board is to work together in a bipartisan manner to allocate funds to poor relief, cemeteries and fire protection while being fiscally responsible and accountable to the taxpayers
