District 1 contains part of Cortlandt, Peekskill, and part of Yorktown.Term: 2 years; Salary: $75,000 BaseDuties: Among the duties of each County Legislator is to enact laws dealing with the County and its residents; to adopt an annual budget and to levy taxes; to determine the structure of County Government and the number of County employees and their salaries; and to initiate new projects and programs as the need arises. There are 17 County Districts.

The three biggest issues facing the district and county as a whole are infrastructure and responsible development, affordability and taxes, and public safety. Areas have experienced significant housing and commercial development, but too many businesses are closing, and too many apartments remain un rented. Growth must be matched with demand, investment in drinking water, storm water, and flood mitigation, roads, transportation and pedestrian safety. I would work with city, county, state and federal government to secure funding and ensure development strengthens infrastructure and provides measurable benefits to the community and tax base. Affordability is also a growing concern. Property taxes, utility cost and overall cost of living pressures working families, seniors, and longtime residents. I would advocate for fiscal discipline and responsible spending while protecting essential services. Finally, public safety must remain a priority with our police, fire and emergency services.
