What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?

How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?

Qualifications I bring a combination of previous ANC experience, nearly a decade of District government service, senior management experience, and a personal commitment to the Anacostia community.

For far too long, DC leadership has struggled to invest in communities like Anacostia in a way that allows residents to enjoy the same basic amenities, opportunities, and neighborhood experience that many residents elsewhere in the District can take for granted. Our neighbors should not have to leave their community for quality grocery options, thriving neighborhood businesses, safe and well-maintained public spaces, recreational opportunities, or other everyday amenities.

The challenge is not simply attracting investments, it is making sure investment is thoughtful, sustainable, and centered on residents. As Commissioner, I want to help create an Anacostia where progress is measured not only by what gets built, but by whether people who live here can feel a difference in their lives.
I believe effective engagement starts with meeting residents where they are and making local government understandable and accessible. Many residents may not know exactly what an ANC does, but they know when their street needs attention, when they want better amenities, when development is proposed in their neighborhood, or when they have struggled to get a response from a District agency.

My approach will be to connect the role of the ANC directly to those everyday concerns. That means being present in the community beyond formal ANC meetings, creating multiple ways for residents to participate, regularly communicating what is happening in the neighborhood, and, most importantly, closing the loop when residents bring issues to my attention.
