Duties: Serves as a member of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). Commissioners represent the views of residents of their Single Member District (SMD). After deliberation and votes, the ANC Commission advises the Mayor, Council and executive agencies in local matters such as parking, zoning, traffic, liquor licenses, permits, etc.Deberes: Se desempeña como miembro de la “Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC)”. Los comisionados representan las opiniones de los residentes de su distrito miembro único “Single Member District(SMD)”. Después de la deliberación y las votaciones, la Comisión del ANC asesora al alcalde, al consejo y a las agencias ejecutivas en asuntos locales como estacionamiento, zonificación, tráfico, licencias de venta de bebidas alcohólicas, permisos, etc.

Issue Facing ANC 8A01 (Southeast D.C. / Fairlawn) Neighborhood stability and public safety driven by neglected nuisance properties and inadequate agency follow-through are our greatest challenges. As Commissioner, I address this by using ANC legal authority to force DOB/OAG code enforcement on vacant buildings, coordinating weekly DBH/DHS social services in spots like Triangle Park, and leveraging "Great Weight" ANC resolutions to secure DPW/DDOT repairs and traffic safety upgrades.
I meet neighbors where they are—demystifying city government and delivering results. Out of all commissioners in ANC 8A (representing ~14,000 residents), I am the only one who hosts a dedicated monthly SMD meeting on the 4th Tuesday of every month. Beyond this meeting, I conduct door-to-door outreach, send regular updates, and directly escalate backlogged 311 requests.
