Biographical Information

What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?

How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?

Qualifications I am a practicing attorney and currently a legal director for a non-profit managing a large federal program. I have lived in DC for 15 years and in SWDC for 10, where I am also the Board President of Tiber Island Cooperative Homes.
I am focused on the development of empty lots at 4th and M streets SW and the long-delayed redevelopment of Greenleaf Gardens. The land at 4th and M should be denser, residential development since it’s on top of a metro station and major bus lanes. The original development plan included 500 units, but now the third (and current) developer owner plans to develop townhomes, which would be an underutilization. Townhomes would also create significant traffic disruptions at an already busy intersection. Regarding Greenleaf, my role as an ANC Commissioner would be to closely monitor progress and barriers to ensure that redevelopment is equitable and allows current residents to return to the new property.
My single member district predominantly consists of condominium and cooperative housing units, so I will focus my outreach and communication on the association and cooperative boards and partner with their officers and property managers as much as possible to facilitate communication. I will meet with association and board presidents at least once a quarter to solicit feedback and learn the top issues each community faces, and I will also host “office hours” or town halls throughout my term so the community at-large can meet me face-to-face and provide input. I will seek to hold these events in larger community spaces in or near my SMD, like the weekly farmer’s market at the Wharf, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, and apartment complex community rooms.
Qualifications 12 years of project management, and I work with the ANC on a Safety Pedestrian Task Force
Through my work on the Pedestrian Safety Task Force, partnering directly with the District Department of Transportation and current ANC leadership, I’ve seen up close how much impact we can have when we gather early resident feedback and advocate together. As Commissioner I will work to establish early warning communication to keep the neighborhood informed about incoming District projects before decisions are finalized, push DDOT for real traffic calming solutions and safer pedestrian infrastructure across 6D06, and serve as a direct, strong voice translating what our community wants into real results.
My goal is to keep our neighbors fully informed about incoming changes and to listen continuously to what our community wants. Southwest is a unique, fast-growing neighborhood, and I want to ensure our collective voice shapes that growth. By bringing our community's needs directly to District agencies, I will be an active, responsive advocate dedicated to making 6D06 the best place to live.
