What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?

How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?

Qualifications I have lived in the Capitol Hill community for more than 25 years, and my current Single Member District for more than 20 years. I served as chairperson of the ANC 6B Public Safety Committee for over two years. I am also an attorney who served 14 years at the United States Department of Justice until 2018. I am now semi-retired, but would like to continue to serve the public. That is why I am running to be ANC Commissioner for 6B06.
I think public safety and how our city government approaches it continues to be a significant issue for many residents throughout ANC 6B. National Guard patrols are not a solution to ensuring our public safety. There needs to be attention paid by our city leadership to the needs of the community to not only protect residents daily, but to prevent crime through a thoughtful and strategic approach. The city had developed a strategic plan to address public safety which was never fully implemented. I believe that initiative should be reviewed and perhaps revisited.
I believe it is important to be present and engaged at both the official ANC meetings, but also in the neighborhood. Whether it is attending local events or just walking in the neighborhood and speaking with people, it is important to be visible and available. I do not have a public social media presence, but would consider creating one if my constituents wanted that type of engagement with me.
