Qualifications
I bring extensive experience in public service, policy development, grants management, budgeting, compliance, and government accountability. I formerly served as Director of Grants at the U.S. Small Business Administration and as a Foreign Service professional with the U.S. Department of State, where I helped oversee complex federal programs and multimillion-dollar resources. As the current ANC 6A02 Commissioner, I have responded directly to resident and business concerns, coordinated with agencies on sanitation, trash removal, rodent abatement, street safety, and neighborhood conditions, and advocated for responsive city services. I understand both how government works and how to hold it accountable.

The most important issue facing ANC 6A02 is neighborhood quality of life, including sanitation, public safety, illegal dumping, rodent activity, and inconsistent city services. I will continue to address these concerns through regular community walk throughs, accessible office hours, and transparent tracking of constituent requests. I will continue to coordinate with DPW, DC Health, DDOT, MPD, 311, the Councilmember’s office, residents, and businesses to resolve problems and identify long term solutions. I will use the ANC’s advisory authority to advocate for cleaner public spaces, safer streets, prevention centered rodent management, and greater agency accountability.
I will continue to engage residents through regular office hours, neighborhood walk throughs, community meetings, social media, email, phone, and direct outreach to seniors, renters, homeowners, businesses, and residents who may not be online. I will explain the ANC’s role in clear language, including how residents can raise concerns, participate in meetings, and influence city decisions. I will provide timely updates, and follow up on agency responses. My goal is to make ANC 6A02 accessible, transparent, and responsive so every resident knows their voice matters.

Living on the best corridor in the District, H Street NE, offers amazing opportunities to live, work, and enjoy life all within a few blocks. However, living in SMD 6A02 has become increasingly more unaffordable, with less preventive safety mechanisms, and harder to find small *free* 3rd spaces, like street corner plazas. The corner of 8th Street and H Street NE is one of the corridor's transportation hubs, where neighbors can often be found mingling. However, there is no temperature adjusted supports or seating. As commissioner I would work with my neighbors to address this by supporting the Office of Planning's DC 2050 Small Area Planning Strategic Meetings to identify policies and practical strategies to meet community needs for housing, jobs, services, and amenities.
My primary reason for running as Commissioner is not merely to represent SMD 6A02 but to serve my neighbors. When I was collecting signatures to get on the ballot I knocked on 106 doors and I was dismayed to find out that for almost 80% of residents I talked with it was the first time they had ever had someone ask them about ANCs, most not knowing what Commissioners even do. How can we claim to represent people that do not even know we exist?! ANCs are equipped with, albeit small, funding for operations. My priorities would be to first update the website that is embarrassingly outdated, and to establish an ANC 6A quarterly newsletter that is mailed out to residents and business owners within our borders. I would also do annual Door Knocking Check-Ins to hear my neighbors' priorities.
