What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?

How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?

The most important issue facing our SMD is ensuring residents can see a clear connection between their concerns and action from local government. Our community has real needs around recreation, transportation, development, and neighborhood services, but residents do not always know where decisions are made or how to make their voices heard.

As Commissioner, I would focus on responsive, transparent, and practical constituent service. That means listening to residents, following up on concerns, working with District agencies and community partners, and keeping residents informed. I cannot promise to solve every problem, but I can promise to listen, advocate, follow through, and make sure residents know what happened.
I would approach resident engagement as an ongoing relationship, not something that happens only when there is a controversial issue or ANC meeting. Many residents are unfamiliar with ANCs or do not know what a Commissioner can actually do, so I want to make local government more accessible and useful.

I would create consistent opportunities for residents to connect with me through regular community updates, neighborhood meetups, and accessible ways to raise concerns. I would also make a deliberate effort to reach residents who are less engaged in civic life. My goal is for every resident to feel that their Commissioner is accessible, listens, follows through, and helps them understand how to make their voice count.
