Duties: Serves as a member of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). Commissioners represent the views of residents of their Single Member District (SMD). After deliberation and votes, the ANC Commission advises the Mayor, Council and executive agencies in local matters such as parking, zoning, traffic, liquor licenses, permits, etc.Deberes: Se desempeña como miembro de la “Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC)”. Biographical Information
What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?
How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?
The most important issue facing our SMD is street safety. Speeding vehicles, unsafe crossings, and limited protected space for people walking and biking make it harder for residents to move around our neighborhood safely—especially children, older adults, people with disabilities, and families.
If elected, I will work with neighbors and DDOT to identify the streets and intersections most in need of attention, advocate for traffic-calming measures such as speed humps and improved signage, and support safe, connected bike lanes. I will also push for better pedestrian infrastructure and regular follow-up on resident concerns. My goal is to make our streets safer and more accessible for everyone who lives, walks, bikes, drives, and uses public transportation in 5B01.
I will engage residents through consistent, accessible, two-way communication. My campaign is already taking me door to door throughout our SMD to listen to residents’ concerns, learn their priorities, and explain what ANCs do and how neighbors can participate.
As Commissioner, I will build on that outreach through regular updates, community meetings, one-on-one conversations, and follow-up on issues residents raise. A stronger community means bringing neighbors together to address shared priorities, including safer streets, safe places for children to play, and a cleaner neighborhood. I will make ANC participation approachable and ensure residents understand how their voices can help shape our community’s future.
