Duties: Serves as a member of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). Commissioners represent the views of residents of their Single Member District (SMD). After deliberation and votes, the ANC Commission advises the Mayor, Council and executive agencies in local matters such as parking, zoning, traffic, liquor licenses, permits, etc.Deberes: Se desempeña como miembro de la “Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC)”. Los comisionados representan las opiniones de los residentes de su distrito miembro único “Single Member District(SMD)”. What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?
How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?

The most important issue facing our Single Member District is public safety. I believe it must be addressed at every level, not just through law enforcement alone.
Public safety means adequate streetlighting on dark corridors where crime occurs. It means vacant properties that attract dumping and loitering are remediated and returned to productive use. It means businesses are held accountable to the community and maintain a safe and clean surrounding area. I plan to share DC government updates with my constituents, review policy for feedback and continue/expand the monthly ANC neighborhood cleanups. Safety, sanitation, and government transparency are my top priorities, and they are not separate issues. There are areas of my commitment that are intertwined and I am ready to deliver.
Petworth is a neighborhood I know intimately. My maternal and paternal grandparents purchased their homes in Petworth in the 1950s and we have all watched the neighborhood change throughout the years. I am a 5th generation Washingtonian, and this community has shaped my life and my values. When talking to neighbors, I hear the same concern, residents and visitors want to feel safe in their homes, on the sidewalks, and at our neighborhood community spaces. As your ANC, I intend to work diligently to address concerns. I will engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner by hosting community events, meetups, and create a newsletter. I hope to connect with and inform the population of neighbors that are unfamiliar with the ANC role and share the value the ANC role has.
