DC ANC 2B08 Commissioner {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

Duties: Serves as a member of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). Commissioners represent the views of residents of their Single Member District (SMD). After deliberation and votes, the ANC Commission advises the Mayor, Council and executive agencies in local matters such as parking, zoning, traffic, liquor licenses, permits, etc.Deberes: Se desempeña como miembro de la “Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC)”. Los comisionados representan las opiniones de los residentes de su distrito miembro único “Single Member District(SMD)”. Después de la deliberación y las votaciones, la Comisión del ANC asesora al alcalde, al consejo y a las agencias ejecutivas en asuntos locales como estacionamiento, zonificación, tráfico, licencias de venta de bebidas alcohólicas, permisos, etc.

What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?

How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?

At the SMD level, probably traffic safety. We live in an area with lots of multimodal transit, and it's of the utmost importance everyone is safe when navigating the neighborhood. I have consistently, and persistently, pursued infrastructure improvements with DPW and DDOT.
ANCs have statutory power as commissions, not as single members, so the bulk of my work will be with the rest of the commission. But as a single member, I serve as an easy point of contact for engagement and consensus building. I try to speak to neighbors and walk my neighborhood whenever I can, and stay informed about news across DC not just on small neighborhood listservs (I'm on there too).
