Duties: Serves as a member of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). Commissioners represent the views of residents of their Single Member District (SMD). After deliberation and votes, the ANC Commission advises the Mayor, Council and executive agencies in local matters such as parking, zoning, traffic, liquor licenses, permits, etc.Deberes: Se desempeña como miembro de la “Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC)”. Los comisionados representan las opiniones de los residentes de su distrito miembro único “Single Member District(SMD)”. What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?
How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?

I’m extremely focused on the overall livability of Dupont - this begins, most crucially, by expanding the accessibility, diversity, and affordability of housing. I feel strongly that equal care must be paid to ensuring the neighborhood is not just affordable but also vibrant, welcoming, safe, and inclusive. These traits are substantiated through intentional community-building events, ongoing sanitation improvements, and supporting a robust economy of local businesses and restaurants. To facilitate this, I support the expansion of car-free spaces (like the Dupont deckover!), the construction of new housing, ongoing rat-mitigation work, and the expansion of my Dupont Neighbors organizing work. We host community events encouraging intergenerational relationships among neighbors, join us!
After nearly a decade living in ANC 2B07, I have a strong sense of the neighborhood’s character and residents. More importantly, I’m an explicit believer in hearing from diverse and differing perspectives. I’m also a huge advocate for in-person convenings and would plan to incorporate regular office hours into my ANC tenure. Moreover, while I strive to be well-read and attentive to community issues, I’m also mindful that as a first-term ANC, I have a lot to learn about the process. If elected, I will consult trusted sources like the retiring ANC, trusted experts in DC and beyond, and fellow residents when coming to a decision. I strive to be decisive while acknowledging that hyper-local issues often require compromise and thoughtful input with every neighbor feeling heard.
