2B05, like the District as a whole has a housing shortage. Far more people want to live here than our current supply of housing allows. My top priority is to allow as much housing to be constructed as possible. In 2B05, our most under-utilized land are office buildings that are underutilized compared to before the pandemic. We have several office-to-residential conversions underway already and I will continue to encourage property owners and real estate developers to pursue more of these projects in my SMD.
I've done unconventional outreach when my constituents haven't heard from the District about matters affecting them. During two separate power outages, I visited apartments and put up flyers to talk to residents and staff about what to expect, while the executive branch and PEPCO refused to communicate to residents.
