Like much of DC, transportation is the main issue facing 2B02. The DC 2050 comprehensive plan is a unique opportunity for the ANC to address many of our needs regarding transportation. As a dense, centrally located neighborhood, walking infrastructure is crucial to our residents. There are are multiple intersections that currently do not have crosswalks where one could be beneficial. Multiple sidewalks are in disrepair, making it difficult to properly use the sidewalk, especially for our neighbors with disabilities or in the local nursing home. While Dupont Circle has decent bike infrastructure, it could certainly be improved. Increasing the connectivity of our existing bike infrastructure should be a priority in the comprehensive plan and beyond.
I plan to have a robust communication strategy to keep constituents informed and engaged. This will include multiple social media accounts, a newsletter, and a monthly office hour period. In addition, I hope to make myself available in person by attending as many community events as I can.

I feel so grateful to live in my neighborhood, amidst its wonderful features and unique challenges. There exists a struggle between keeping the neighborhood historic and creating more affordable housing . Though adjusting in either direction is challenging, I would love to find creative ways to add affordable housing in the remaining areas that could accommodate it. Separately and most practically, I would create a resolution to turn the intersection at 22nd and O street from a two way stop into a 4-way stop. There is confusion, concern among walkers, and blind spots among drivers turning off of O street. Children walk to school along this route. The current stop does not best encourage proper street sharing between walkers, bikers, and cars; creating a 4-way stop would assist in that.

I’m a systems guy. I like to create a process, run through it, and hold space for an ability to pivot if needed. As ANC, I am excited to build a process for constituent outreach that reaches both ways. Constituents will be able to contact me; I will also proactively speak with my neighbors to understand their concerns through newsletters and meetups. After hearing from various perspectives, I will study the concerns against local existing policies, speak with my fellow commissioners, and make decisions that I believe are best for my neighborhood now and in the future. I will then be transparent about the decisions I arrive at and be willing to explain to my neighbors to help them understand what I decide, even - and perhaps particularly - if they disagree.

Decline of local business/increasing commercial vacancies. A healthy and diverse business community is vital to Dupont remaining a desirable place to live and visit. I will continue working with Dupont BID, Main Streets, the Councilmember & Council to devise cohesive efforts to overcome the weak policies, loopholes, inertia, that hamstring efforts to bring in good-quality local businesses. With many new residential units in the pipeline in and around us, we need to capture this opportunity to evolve our reputation as a "neighborhood that has it all."
I have an active presence on social media, a newsletter, and email bulletins that reaches many residents in my SMD and the greater Dupont community. It is a core practice to respond to people quickly and not make them wait. I'm happy to meet with residents in person or virtually to keep them informed and discuss concerns or other matters. I am open to again trying "office hours clinics" drop-in sessions in the neighborhood.
