Duties: Serves as a member of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). Commissioners represent the views of residents of their Single Member District (SMD). After deliberation and votes, the ANC Commission advises the Mayor, Council and executive agencies in local matters such as parking, zoning, traffic, liquor licenses, permits, etc.Deberes: Se desempeña como miembro de la “Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC)”. Los comisionados representan las opiniones de los residentes de su distrito miembro único “Single Member District(SMD)”. Biographical Information
What is the most important issue facing your Single Member District (SMD) and how do you intend to address it?
How will you engage with residents to be an effective Commissioner, especially reaching those who are unfamiliar with the role and value of ANCs?
One of the biggest issues I see facing SMD 1B04 is delivering on basic constituent services, like trash pickup, sidewalk repair, and other 311 requests. There was a hazardous raised sidewalk that tripped people for years on my block. I put in a 311 notice in 2022 - as well as neighbors - but it took me joining the ANC 1B Transportation, Parks, and Public Spaces Committee and dialogue with a DDOT liaison to finally resolve the issue in 2026. That is unacceptable. We should do better.
Other issues facing the neighborhood include community engagement, rat infestation, and supporting our local businesses in ANC 1B04, such as Izakaya Seki, Q and Q Dry Cleaners, Wet Dog, and more.
I know I am not the smartest or most informed individual on a given topic. That is why it is critical to listen to informed or impacted
individuals who I can learn from - which is what I do as a government relations professional. That is why it is important to get consensus and understanding of what the community wants or needs. This can take place through my already established network, but as ANC Comissioner, I will try to talk to my neighbors when walking around or via email (perhaps a newsletter), so they know what’s happening in our SMD and surrounding areas, and to understand their perspectives and how an issue may impact them.
