The Flemington-Raritan School District serves children from both Flemington Boro and Raritan Township. The district consists of four K - 4 elementary schools, one intermediate school for grades 5 and 6 and a middle school for grades 7 and 8. The Board of Education is the governing body of the school district, responsible for developing policy to ensure the proper care, management and control of district affairs, and supporting the mission of educating our students to reach their full potential. To that end, the Flemington-Raritan Board of Education sets district policy which is then implemented by the superintendent and administrators.In addition to setting policy, the Board hires the superintendent; approves staff hiring, resignations, terminations and leaves of absence; reviews and adopts the district budget; approves expenditures; approves educational programs (curriculum), and otherwise ensures that proper facilities and equipment are available to support teaching and learning in the district.The Board is comprised of nine, volunteer members, with seven members elected from Raritan Township and two members elected from Flemington Borough. Members are elected to three-year terms on the November general election day.

I am passionate about education. I want children to have the best chance to succeed, to learn to read, write, do math, apply science in the best possible environment without constraint. I am someone who makes decisions based on information. I try not to take stances that cannot be changed by new information.
For one thing, I am an avid reader. Things such as book bans will NEVER be supported by me. Focusing on the classroom, limiting technology unless there is true value in the educational experience it provides. No phones in classrooms. Let children focus and teachers have the children’s focus. It is proven to lead to better outcomes.
Ultimately, I want our district to have the most educated children in the state/country. I am running to ensure the ideals of education are not beholden to political whims. That all children, regardless of family income, race/ethnicity and other societal factors feel that they are safe in our schools, that they are paid the attention they deserve, and given the best possible environment to learn and grow.
I’d like to limit the reliance on technology in the classrooms I want to ensure the buildings are well cared for. Honestly, my priorities are to try to accomplish whatever we can to provide the best environment for both student and educator to have the best outcomes. What those are yet will become more clear as I work into the role.
I cannot say here as I am not informed enough to make a statement on this. But I think, based off of my previous answers, that you can have an idea as to how I would approach the constraints and how to get the most out of it.
No cell phones in school. So many studies have shown the detrimental effects of cell phones in the classroom, from bullying, to loss of attention, leading to lower scores across the board.
