Involvement in Community
Community involvement has always been an important part of my life. In addition to my service on Town Council, I chair Clinton’s Environmental Commission and Green Team, volunteer with the Clinton Conservancy, and serve on the board of DarkSky New Jersey. I have also been an active Sierra Club volunteer for nearly 30 years. Through these organizations, I have worked on environmental protection, sustainability, open space, and other efforts to improve our community and protect our natural resources. I believe public service means being actively involved, working with others, and giving back to the community.
I am running for another term because I genuinely enjoy public service and care deeply about Clinton and the people who live here. Serving on Council gives me the opportunity to make a real difference in the community—from protecting taxpayers and maintaining our infrastructure to preserving our environment and the qualities that make Clinton such a special place to live.
I bring considerable experience to that work. I served nine years on the Closter Borough Council, from 2006 through 2014, and I am completing my fourth year on the Clinton Town Council. Before retiring three years ago, I spent nearly 40 years in finance and accounting, most recently as a Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis at The New York Times. That background has taught me to look carefully at the numbers, plan for the long term, and make responsible use of limited resources.
I also have a strong passion for the environment. I believe one of our responsibilities in local government is to make decisions today that protect our community and our natural resources for future generations.
My three priorities are controlling rising waste collection costs, addressing employee health-care costs, and continuing to invest in our infrastructure.
Trash collection costs are increasing as we prepare for a new contract. While we cannot control the bids we receive, we should explore innovative ways to reduce the amount of waste we send for disposal, including diverting organic waste. This can reduce the waste we pay to collect and dispose of while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Health-care costs for municipal employees are another significant challenge. Much of this is outside the Town’s direct control, but we still need to be vigilant in reviewing costs and available options.
Finally, we need to continue proactively maintaining our water, sewer, roads, and other infrastructure. Planned maintenance and investment can help us avoid sudden failures that can be far more costly. Across the budget, I will continue looking for grants, shared services, and other opportunities to control costs while maintaining the services residents expect.
Clinton currently has one small data center associated with Comcast. While there are a few sites in town that could potentially accommodate a data center, our limited water capacity makes a large-scale facility unlikely.
Nevertheless, I would support updating our zoning ordinance to exclude large-scale data centers as a permitted use. Their significant demands for water and energy, along with potential impacts from noise and other infrastructure needs, make them a poor fit for a small, largely developed community like Clinton. I believe we should address this proactively through our zoning ordinance rather than wait until a proposal is submitted.
Clinton is already largely built out, so our focus should be on smart redevelopment rather than expanding into the limited open land that remains. I would like to preserve our remaining open space wherever possible and make use of the Open Space Trust Fund we established two years ago to help accomplish that.
My plan for growth would focus primarily on the thoughtful redevelopment and reuse of existing properties, encouraging investment that strengthens our business community and provides appropriate housing opportunities while preserving the character of Clinton. Growth should occur where our existing infrastructure can support it and must take into account our limited water capacity, traffic, environmental resources, and the impact on surrounding neighborhoods.

Involvement in Community
Council liaison to Shade Tree Commission, member Clinton Conservancy, former member Clinton Public School PTO and Booster Club, leader of three Girl Scout troops while raising four children in Clinton.
I decided to run for re-election to Town Council because I love Clinton and have found over the last three decades that this town is filled with so many nice, friendly, caring people that I want to continue serving in order to maintain the family-friendly, safe and beautiful place that is my Town!
I am currently on Town Council and have learned how the Town runs - with a dedicated staff, an incredible mayor and a Council filled with people who want to maintain Clinton's beauty and charm. Professionally, I am a pharmacist and have worked in community pharmacy for over thirty years; the best part of the job is talking to patients and helping them make informed choices about their health.
The municipal budget is always a challenge. The State of NJ imposes many unfunded mandates. The diligence of our Mayor, municipal staff and those Council members who have obtained grants to defray the costs of certain expenses and improvements in the Town help minimize tax increases.
Priorities include removal of PFAS and PFOS from our wells, maintaining our roads, and preserving open space.
Data center development should be evaluated with concern for water usage, power usage, and noise production. These parameters should be monitored during data center operation with special attention given to citizens' noise concerns. Quality of life is paramount in Clinton.
Clinton is nearly completely developed with little room for further development. I would like to see an emphasis on preserving our public lands and existing open space.
