As a devoted parent, neighbor, and active member of my community, I care about community service and the direction of our public schools. I have a track record of community leadership with the Maugham Elementary School HSA, the Balance Project of Tenafly, the Maugham Respect & Kindness Initiative, coaching sports, and more. Realizing how committed my family was to Tenafly, I stepped back from other ventures to dedicate even more of my time to our local community.
Our district possesses incredible opportunities, and I believe my background, commitment to Tenafly, collaborative approach to problem-solving, and priorities (see the next question) make me a strong candidate to serve our students, teachers and taxpayers.
One of the most important challenges Tenafly schools face is ensuring the age-appropriate use of technology in each grade. We need to strive for a better balance in this regard. Another is to continue our focus on fiscal responsibility especially during the myriad capital improvements currently underway. Tenafly must focus on academic excellence and create a system where each student can reach their potential. And fourth, we must dedicate ourselves to building a culture of respect, kindness, and support.
In addition to my prior and current service to the community (HSA, the Balance Project, coaching baseball and basketball, and more), I bring an engineer's problem-solving mind, an MBA's financial rigor, and deep daily involvement with the district to the table. And, I pride myself on working well with people of diverse perspectives.
My wife, our three children, and I have resided in Tenafly for 6 years, and during that time, we have experienced the equivalent of 13 years of schooling at Maugham Elementary and the Tenafly Middle School.
We are heavily invested in our schools on a daily basis. As Tenafly is where we are building our life, I look for opportunities to serve the community. I was the Maugham HSA Co-Treasurer for 2 years and regularly met with the principal. As a member of the steering committee of the parent-led Tenafly Balance Project, we met with the Superintendent and each of the school's principals. I'm a team-player, work collaboratively with others, and have excellent existing relationships with district leadership, teachers, and staff.
Having spent my professional life in the technology industry, I am keenly aware that while technology can be an important and useful part of modern education, I am passionate about restoring balance. Screen time should enhance learning and certainly not replace human connection (especially between children!), critical thinking, or hands-on experiences. I will advocate for thoughtful, evidence-based guidelines that ensure technology serves our kids rather than distract from their growth.
Tenafly's Technology Philosophy document is a good start, but there is far to go to ensure technology use is always purposeful and intentional. My experience with the Tenafly chapter of The Balance Project will serve as a tremendous asset in this area.
With an open schedule and a clear focus on Tenafly’s future, I am ready for my next milestone: serving on the Tenafly Board of Education. I bring an engineer's problem-solving mind, an MBA's financial rigor, a record of community leadership, and a parent's daily investment in our schools. I look forward to having the opportunity to serve the community and earning the trust of each voter to serve on the Board for years to come.

Involvement in Community
Kevin has been an active volunteer in causes that support children since his teens. Served as Smith's HSA Co-Treasurer, Smith KPA President, and a committee for Tenafly township. He also was a director at a scholarship fund and helped Childhelp, the national charity that banned child abuse in America.

Before my name was ever on the ballot, I researched what does the position imply, I met with the President and with multiple members to hear how the Board of Education works. Their answers told me that my work smarts in finance, real estate, technology and education could benefit the township.
I am a person who doesn't compromise on my value system of being a good human being while relating to others. I would bring my practical, problem-solving approach and value system to the Board of Education, drawing on decades of experience across several fields of Education, Finance, Real Estate, and Technology to Tenafly.
I have the work smarts to help guide other Board of Education members and superintendent as a talented and experienced administrator who has the time for a long time commitment since my youngest child, Logan, is only eight years old. It takes a village to raise a child and Tenafly is a special place to raise children. I do want to meet people and hear what they want to say on how we can improve our district and am committing time at Cafe Trois 9-11AM every Friday to meet people to discuss their ideas on how to be that village that will exceed expectations. And in my career, I have helped organizations make thoughtful decisions, plan for the future, and use resources effectively.
Our experience has been excellent, as parents, Rene and I, were lucky to have some excellent teachers to help identify that our first child, Lucas, needed some extra attention. On the advice of staff, we got the necessary plan put in action. We want every parent to have access to the care we learned to get which would start with education of parents. I keep learning while studying for this election and meeting other parents in Tenafly.
Student wellbeing, in today's dopamine addled age where children are facing off against corporations that have done studies to get them addicted to things like social media, we need to have strong participation in electives and make sure students are prepared for college. Making sure taxes are rising reasonably is a close second with districts failing and cutting teachers and staff because of poor fiscal responsibility.
