I want to serve because I believe a strong education should prepare students not simply to pass tests, but to think critically, ask questions, solve problems, and recognize the possibilities available to them. Education changed the course of my own life, and I want every Lyndhurst student to have opportunities to discover their strengths and find pathways to success. I also believe the Board has a responsibility to communicate openly with the community, use taxpayer dollars responsibly, and make decisions that balance educational excellence with the needs of the families and residents who support our schools.
I believe one of the greatest challenges is providing every student with an excellent education while remaining accountable to the taxpayers who fund our schools. We must also strengthen communication among the Board of Education, the Board of Commissioners, and the community while preparing students for a changing world. My career has centered on education, public service, communication, and working with people of all ages and ability levels. I have trained educators, worked in Universal Instructional Design, developed educational programs, and managed public resources. These experiences have taught me to listen, ask questions, examine information critically, communicate clearly, and seek practical solutions that serve students while respecting the community.
I am a lifelong Lyndhurst resident who attended and was educated in the Lyndhurst public school system. My family has called Lyndhurst home for generations, and the education I received here helped provide the foundation for my academic and professional life. I have watched our schools and community change over the years, both as a resident and as an educator. That perspective gives me an understanding of the importance our schools have not only to students and families, but to the entire community. I want today’s students to have the opportunities to learn, grow, discover their strengths, and build their own pathways to success.
My highest priority will be ensuring that our students receive an excellent education while restoring accountability and responsible local control. I want clear, measurable information about the requirements established under state monitoring, the progress that has been made, what benchmarks remain outstanding, and what must be accomplished for our locally elected Board to regain full control over financial decisions. At the same time, we must ensure that resources are directed where they provide the greatest educational value, communicate openly with residents, and prepare students to think critically, solve problems, recognize their potential, and succeed in a changing world.
I am a lifelong Lyndhurst resident whose own education in our public schools helped shape the life and career I have today. I am running because I want to give back to the community that gave me my educational foundation. I will come to the Board prepared to ask questions, listen to different perspectives, examine the facts, and make decisions based on what I believe best serves our students, schools, taxpayers, and community. I believe public service requires transparency, accountability, respectful communication, and the willingness to ask difficult questions. I will bring my experience as an educator, public servant, and longtime resident to that responsibility.
