Union Township (Hunterdon) School District {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

The Union Township School District serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Schools in the district are Union Township Elementary School and Union Township Middle School. The Board is comprised of nine members who freely dedicate their time and energy to serving the school community. The Board serves a dual role: To represent the concerns of the citizens, taxpayers and parents to the school administrators, and to represent the needs of the students and school district to the citizens, taxpayers and parents of the community. The School Board sets the policies, goals and objectives for the district and holds the superintendent responsible for implementing the policies and achieving the goals. School Board members are elected for three-year terms.

What overall education priority(ies) do you want to accomplish during your time on the School Board? Why should they receive priority?

Given the budgetary constraints, what areas would you focus on to achieve cost savings without adversely impacting instructional goals, mandated programs, and teacher/staff quality?

What policies would you support to address the impact of social media on student self-esteem and the risks to students of misinformation or disinformation?

Involvement in the community and an opportunity to positively impact the lives of children in our district has been a main reason for my involvement in the school board over the years.
Continuing to focus on elevating Language Arts, Math, and Science proficiency while preparing students for high school and beyond should be where the Board of Education helps the administration receive the resources needed for success.
Continuing to focus on transportation, facilities, and health/benefit cost controls will provide the district with potential savings to redirect to educational programs.
Sessions for students around acceptable use and the changing nature of social media both in the classroom and through assemblies.
