The Tewksbury Township School District Board of Education is responsible to all the people for whose benefit the Tewksbury Public School District has been established. The Board of Education’s primary objective is to establish those purposes, programs, procedures, and facilities which will best produce the educational achievement needed by district students now and in the future. It is charged with accomplishing this while also being responsible for wise management of resources available to the district. The Board functions primarily as a legislative body to formulate and adopt policy, selecting a school superintendent to implement policy, and evaluating the results. Further, it must carry out its functions openly while seeking the involvement and contributions of the public, students and staff in this decision-making process. Members of the Board of are elected to three-year terms and normally three seats are up for election each spring. The nine-member Board is committed in principle to the objective that all students have an opportunity for learning that is consistent with each individual’s capabilities. It strives to maintain and improve the educational atmosphere in Tewksbury Township so that all of the youth of the community may meet this objective. The Board of Education acts on any school issue only when the board, as a whole, is in official public session.

I’m running because I care deeply about the community where my husband and I are raising our two boys, and I believe strong schools are an important part of what makes Tewksbury such a special place to live.
Professionally, I lead large, global operations teams and spend much of my time bringing people together, solving complex problems, managing budgets and using data to make thoughtful decisions. I also began my career as a CPA, practicing public accounting for 7 years, which shaped the way I think about financial responsibility and stewardship.
I’m also a strong believer in lifelong learning. I continue to invest in my own leadership development because I believe good leaders should always be willing to listen, learn and challenge their own thinking. I would bring that same mindset to the Board: ask good questions, listen to different perspectives, do the homework, and make decisions with our students and community in mind.
My priority would be to make sure Tewksbury continues to provide an excellent education while preserving the opportunities that make a small school community special. Strong academics and great teachers should always be at the center, but I also believe sports, clubs and extracurricular activities are an important part of a student’s school experience. These activities provide an opportunity for students to learn skills that they simply would not learn during a school day.
One issue I would like the Board to continue evaluating is our recently implemented participation fees. At $250 per sport, per season, and $175 per club, I think it is important to understand how those fees are affecting participation and whether there are more equitable and sustainable ways to fund these programs.
More broadly, I would bring a mindset of continuous improvement — looking at the data, listening to families and educators, and being willing to revisit decisions when the outcomes aren’t what we hoped for.
My professional background makes this an area where I believe I could add real value. I spend a significant amount of time looking at budgets, operational efficiency and how organizations can make the most of the resources they have.
I would look for opportunities to eliminate duplication, improve efficiency and find synergies, while always considering the potential impact on our students, educators and instructional goals.
I also believe transparency is an important part of responsible budgeting. Budget constraints and financial decisions can be complicated, and I would work to explain them in plain English so families and educators understand not only what decisions are being considered, but why. That creates an opportunity to listen to their input and better understand the impact before and after decisions are made.
Ultimately, I would approach the budget with both fiscal responsibility and educational impact in mind, protecting strong instruction, great teachers and meaningful opportunities for our students.
As a parent of young children, I believe our approach to social media and technology should be thoughtful and age appropriate. At the elementary and middle school level, our priority should be creating an environment where students can focus on learning, building confidence and developing healthy relationships with their peers.
I also believe there is an appropriate role for education around digital citizenship and understanding how to evaluate information as students get older. Schools and families should be partners in that conversation, with parents remaining closely involved.
Technology and social media will continue to evolve, so I would want the Board to regularly evaluate its policies, listen to educators and families, and make thoughtful decisions based on what is appropriate for our students.
