The Kingwood Township School District serves public school students ranging from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade at Kingwood Township School. The Kingwood Township Board of Education is compromised of nine members, elected by the Kingwood Township residents. The Board of Education holds regular monthly meetings at Kingwood Township School. The nine members of the School Board have a dual role: To represent the concerns of the citizens, taxpayers and parents to the school administrators, and to represent the needs of the students and school district to the citizens, taxpayers and parents of the community. The School Board sets the policies, goals and objectives for the district and holds the superintendent responsible for implementing the policies and achieving the goals. School Board members are elected for three-year terms.

I bring logic and common sense but emotions are not lost in the conversation. I understand that it is expensive to run a school but I apply scrutiny to the value we get from spending while recognizing some things are out of our control due to state or federal regulations.
We need to keep programs like music but also need to incorporate arts into the learning, STEM is good but STEAM is better for our children.
Shared services is where we have been strong and have been able to make it either bring in additional revenue to keep things the same but has also brought us more students to support programs that would have been cut. Doing what we can to identify new shared service opportunities make it possible to not only prevent cuts but enrich the children's experience, not just in Kingwood but also where we share.
Policies that help the students understand the good and the bad while taking into account the student's opinions is important. We can't just dictate what adults think will be right, the kids have to have a say. This was recently done with the personal mobile devices policy, student feedback increased adoption by the students.
